Well I suppose I could commute to work just fine in a 3-cylinder 1.0 litre 80 hoursepower Suzuki Swift. But, I have much more fun driving my 2.8 litre 174 horsepower Jetta VR6.
I went to a school like that for one year. Actually it was worse. No females in the dorm EVER. MAYBE your MOM could help you MOVE IN! Know what I did? I left. I decided to say "fuck you" to my parents who basically blackmailed me into going by threatening not to co-sign any loans. I went to a State School, graduated, and got a great job.
You are a goddamn imbecile! Your 486 does not outperform mainframes of the 60s and 70s. Just because you suck at programming and can't write an app that would use massive ammounts of CPU, IO Storage does not mean these are un-neccessary things. You want to quit CS because it's too hard? DO IT NOW! You want to become a TEACHER? Oh my god...you need to get your head out of your ass first. You're pissed because peoples expectations for fast computing are driving up prices for an 'average' PC and you can't afford it? My god...my brain...it's....it's melting...You have made me stupider. I will dedicate any and all moderator points I get to banishing your unfounded, blatantly wrong, ignorant posts to the realm of -1, where no one need read them.
Sane moderators have been taking him down a notch or two. That guy is truely annoying...a Troll if I ever saw one. Or maybe just goddamn ignorant? Hard to tell from here...
Of all the posts here you seem to have gotten it. This is designed to keep users from copying media. I too plan to boycott this technology. Most of the stuff that'll be distributed on DVD does not interest me anyway...typical hollywood schlock.
If the people want these filters, let them have them. If the wrongly-blocked sites become a problem, rest assured there will be an uproar and filtering rules will change: Many people still have unfiltered net access at home. As for me and my children (if I ever have any) we won't be going to a public library. Public libraries are slow and often out-of-date. Any information required can be found on the 'net...and if that means the average person has a disadvantage...so be it! Self preservation I tell yah...
I agree...if people don't feel like following the rules, then what can we do? Perhaps they get their points and wish to use them: It's easier to moderate down an obvious Troll or Flamebait than to dig through numerous decent posts to find the best. This behaviour is apparant when you notice a thread with 150 posts has 8 of them at "5", and the next highest post has a "2". We as moderators must be more vigilant, and read more thoroughly...I'm guilty too. Just my thoughts...
I do believe that film is...

I don't own a TV. Won't buy one untill wide-screen is more widely available, and media is available to properly fit the screen. If DVD can't do this, then screw DVD. Well, I might buy a regular TV to play Dreamcast on when my roommate moves out.
"5. The net shouldn't cost so god damned much in the first place. Technology is advancing right? Well instead of wasting that time playing quake improve the backbone of your news servers or make it possible for anyone to run a news server"
Woah dude....you really don't know how these newserver and network things work, do you? You, good sir, are a crank. Go crawl back under your rock.
This guy's got it exactly right. WTF designs a system that stores sensitive data on a net accessable host? At least offload the data to a separate system that's a bit more difficult to access. And if you let some company store all the credit card info needed to charge a purchase to your card, you are a fool. You don't trust some guy in a restaurant? Well, somebody has to have privs to read that CC database...and that DB sticks arround for a looooong time....not a day or two like a paper slip.
If I chased down every spammer who dumped his shit at my inbox, I'd easily waste an hour a day. Sorry, but it's not worth it to me. You'll never stop them by force of action, only by passive filtering.
I've become rather caloused to the whole thing...I'm sure I'll get a few emails trying to get me to sign up, but they'll just get deleted like the rest. After being deluged by clueless morons who truly believe that unless they forward this email to a billion people, AOL will dismantle ICQ or Walt Disney will give them a free vacation, I've become a bit jaded. Preying on the something-for-nothing (or almost nothing) mindset is offensive, but not nearly as offensive as the kind of person who figures "Hey a few clicks of the forward button and I could win!" and doesn't consider the effect those superfluous emails have on others. Bleh. I usually end up flaming those people with the most acute cases of "imbecilitis" and adding their names to the shit list.
Yeah all the coverage makes it sound like the thing is falling apart. These reporters must be of the mind that when you buy a car, it's already got oil in it, why would you have to change it? Just wastes more of my/taxpayers money. Chuckleheads...
Ahhhh... ahora que se siente bueno!

Someone, somewhere, in the M&M Mars Corporation thinks you are the biggest freak of them all. I am sooooo jealous!

Moderating up is much more preferable than moderating down.

I like it...didn't realize that smileys had no syllabilic value though...
Equifax is definately in the Certificate Provider business. Some rather large companies do business with them. Are they that much of a non-player?
There's something fishy about this deal...
