Also, the most conservative states are the ones which, proportionally to tax contributions, get the most 'free money' handed to them by the Federal Government. I own over 300 CDs, been buying them since 1990. Back then "The Wall" would give you a new CD if yours broke...just bring in the bits and there you go. Now I'm told I'm only liscensing the content. This industry gets more and more protection from the government and they use it to squeeze the customer harder and harder. I dislike the fact that a failing business model is protected by law to ensure the profitability of a non-necessity. I dislike that when I buy a movie I am forced to watch commercials and be talked down to by FBI warnings...I bought the damn thing, didn't I? If I were to rip that DVD to a hypothetical disk array in order to strip off the annoying non-movie parts, I am breaking the law.

I suppose I could simply not use their content, but when it and advertisements for it is blasted at me whenever I go out in public or watch commercial TV, I just get all bitter. Since they have all this money, they can spew advertising at me for the crap deals they off on their content. What is my recourse? "ignore" it? I'm getting tired of that. I want to hit back at these douchebags for polluting my life with their advertising and then making the product such a shitty deal.

So, intrusive advertisment combined with a raw deal for the consumer equals a desire to get back at the rich bastards running the show. How better than to use their content without permission? It's the best revenge.

Alternatively, I buy my music from emusic.

Wow, after 5 years and almost a Trillion pissed away into the sand, things are improving slightly! Yeah, take that terrorists! Fuck with the big bad USA and 5 years later we might actually get something done! I feel for those who were already in when this idiotic aggressive invasion took place. Those who enlisted after? Tough shit on them for supporting an evil agenda and being too stupid to realize that they were being lied to. We shoulda cleaned up in Afghanistan, gone home and secured our borders, and stayed vigilant. Pre-emptive strikes are bad precedent.

No declaration of war was made, no conscription, no rationing, no sacrifices made except to our rights and liberty. If this 'terrorist threat' was as serious as the government and their military cheerleaders say it is, why isn't there conscription? Why don't we have the 1/2 Million men in Iraq that military guidelines stated was needed to succeed there? Why doesn't our dear leader require Americans to ration gasoline and food so we can afford to properly equip those soldiers? The whole idea of invading Iraq was stupid because it wasn't involved, and then to top it all off, they went in with no plan.

Because this conflict was not to secure America, but to enrich the already-rich Americans with connections to politics. I'm sorry over 4k soldiers have wasted their lives for this crock of shit, but hey, they did volunteer knowing that even if a nut-job was elected that they would have to follow orders.

Sorry if that puts some hurt on your sacred cows, but reality often does that.
