2001 is not Hard Science Fiction. Try reading some Sheffield for Hard Science Fiction.

Also, SciFi is different from Science Fiction. SciFi a just a step above "Space Opera". Start Trek is SciFi, Star Wars is Space Opera. These are not to disparage on literary terms but scientific terms. SciFi uses technical gobbly-gook terms: "If we rearrange the quantum manifold and shoot a tachyon beam...". Where as Space Opera could be just pure fantasy but replaces elves and orcs with aliens, and fireballs with lasers, and dragons with spaceships.

Science Fiction is a plot held with in the framework of current Scientific theory. Hard Science Fiction is scientific hypothesis defines a plot. Read a book by David Drake and by Charles Sheffield and see the difference between Science Fiction and Hard Science Fiction. I recommend The Web Between Worlds and Lt Leary Commanding. Science drives The Web whereas Science puts boundaries on Leary.

Mormonism is an offshoot of Christianity much as Islam is an offshoot of Christianity, and Christianity is an offshoot of Judeaism.

Personally, I consider LDS and Islam to be about equally valid. While current Mormons and Moslems may be OK, history shows that the founders seem to have created a religion for personal benefit.

Christians are not exactly off the hook themselves. There were more than four Gospels. There were other books. The early Church made some political decisions on what is official and what is heresy. The later Church wasso filled with corruption and hypocrisy, that a rank-and-file priest became a heretic (Martin Luther for the slow ones in class) rather than accept the corruption. Latter Christians used the excuse of belonging to different sect as a reason to make war.

Many modern Moslems and Mormons behave better than many modern Christians. What I am saying is doesn't matter what kooky ideas you follow so much as to how they get implemented.

A couple of things, it sounds like it is not stored on flash but a ram drive. If your are losing what is stored with a power loss, then that would be a RAM drive. Most of the Roms use a ram drive. Your SD card sounds like it is fubared and or some serious bug with the SD driver. I remember on most ROMs that there are problems trying to partition and format an SD card, and it might be that which is causing your problem.

I have an SL5500 and symlinked the /root /home /opt to a ext2 formated SD. I used my Linux desktop and a USB card reader to partition the SD card. This has worked well for 2 years. I also use OpenZaurus. The limited look I had of the SharpROM, I wasn't pleased, and I have not looked back since using OZ.

No it is not the same. Otherwise there would be no copyright laws or copyright violations. It would just be Theft.

Copyright violation can be seen as a prevention of generation fo revenue, while theft is a removal of generated revenue.

Let's give an esample so you can better understand. If I go into a store and take a pack of cigarrettes without paying, I have committed theft. Now lets say instead I tell someone waiting in line to pay for cigs that they cause cancer and they will die if they smoke them, and the person puts away the cigs and leaves without buying anything; I have not committed a crime but the store owner was prevented from generating revenue.

Now in US law, copyright and patents are granted to advance art and science. It is a recognition of peoples natural desire for compensation. It is a compromise though, as art and science are usefully advanced by having freely available work. Part of this compromise was that copyright matters were civil not criminal matters.

If you take a look at patents, you see that they only last 20 years. You can reasonably expect to see most patents granted in your lifetime expire within your lifetime. Copyrights used to have short expiration dates. Look at all the various revisions of Romeo and Juliet that have been done of the years. Old works can be turned into new exciting works, when copyrights expire.
