    Good security practices are infinitely better than norton. A computer crawling with malware is also infinitely faster than one infested with norton AV.

    I run linux on all my desktops, and in my experience, the 32 bit systems seem to handle it rather well; full screen flash at 720p somewhere around 30 fps on a non-hardware accelerated browser and pentium mobile processor. Hopefully gnash will be mature enough for most purposes soon.

    I personally have flash uninstalled on systems where its practical, blocked with individual object unblocking where its not.

    A security hole so @#^%&@ adobe can update its garbage flash player every thirty seconds because of security issues.

    It beats having an unpatched and vulnerable adobe flash....

    As seems to, you've forgotten opera. If I recall correctly, it had WebM support before chrome (well, chrome had it in the nightlies then).

    by older environments I assume you mean fluxbox, openbox, twm and the like. I believe you can actually run openbox side by side (maybe that's not the right term, but oh well) with KDE and Gnome, but I prefer to run them by themselves.

    is this making any sense to anyone? The entire internet should be open, we net neutrality lovers shouldn't be relegated to our own little corner. I for one, won't stand by while the internet is turned into the next radio or TV. Some other things: how will one access this 'second' internet anyway? and won't we just have a repeat after the ISPs notice how much bandwidth we're hogging? How long until we have to have a 3rd 4th and 5th internet? What if ISPs block access to the open internet to save money? IMO this idea is fundamentally flawed.

    I believe you missed the point and reversed it- what he's saying is that having to take your shoes off, being strip searched, irradiated, all that crap- is not living normally. Those types of procedures and security and that we accept it as normal are what tell you that the terrorists really did win.
