Good security practices are infinitely better than norton. A computer crawling with malware is also infinitely faster than one infested with norton AV.
I run linux on all my desktops, and in my experience, the 32 bit systems seem to handle it rather well; full screen flash at 720p somewhere around 30 fps on a non-hardware accelerated browser and pentium mobile processor. Hopefully gnash will be mature enough for most purposes soon.
when I read that last bit about him being expected to get out of prison in 2025, I had the mental image of Simon Phoenix hacking into the public terminal in demolition man....
by older environments I assume you mean fluxbox, openbox, twm and the like. I believe you can actually run openbox side by side (maybe that's not the right term, but oh well) with KDE and Gnome, but I prefer to run them by themselves.
no, I just think the fine should be greater for SS numbers, etc. and I think medical information should be greater than sexual, which would occupy the middle.
is this making any sense to anyone? The entire internet should be open, we net neutrality lovers shouldn't be relegated to our own little corner. I for one, won't stand by while the internet is turned into the next radio or TV. Some other things: how will one access this 'second' internet anyway? and won't we just have a repeat after the ISPs notice how much bandwidth we're hogging? How long until we have to have a 3rd 4th and 5th internet? What if ISPs block access to the open internet to save money? IMO this idea is fundamentally flawed.
I believe you missed the point and reversed it- what he's saying is that having to take your shoes off, being strip searched, irradiated, all that crap- is not living normally. Those types of procedures and security and that we accept it as normal are what tell you that the terrorists really did win.

good analogy I've heard is: Windows is like a submarine with screen door, and guess who gets paid to scoop out the water?
I'm shocked.

I personally have flash uninstalled on systems where its practical, blocked with individual object unblocking where its not.
I agree with most of your points, but it appears that those with mod points do not. This is far from off topic.
A security hole so @#^%&@ adobe can update its garbage flash player every thirty seconds because of security issues.
It beats having an unpatched and vulnerable adobe flash....
As seems to, you've forgotten opera. If I recall correctly, it had WebM support before chrome (well, chrome had it in the nightlies then).
Flash on all platforms sucks, IMO.

oh my god, he has a nuclear device in his possession!

I have a suspicion that it's the latter
I concur. Though it might be a long and overly complicated joke because of this:
Unnecessary choice is (the root of all ;) evil

methinks you need to straighten your priorities.
which is why you should assist the fledgling US Pirate Party instead, if you care about the issues.
Quite useful for emacs users.
Yep. News at 11.
Mission accomplished.
not really, though maybe among the geek community. Everyone I know who pirates music/movies uses limewire or frostwire.
well the context I was reading in (nuclear explosives) was dealing extremely high energies. I just kinda guessed it was universal.
Internet explorer is Internet explorer. If you're using it, you deserve whatever you get.

in fact, forget the internet!
