man those things are such a pain sometimes. i have one, and its nice because they let you carry a negative balance for one trip (nice because that lets you get home from a concert when you are tired, sober, and sleepy), but there have been numerous instances when ive had to fish the damn thing out of my wallet and hold it RIGHT UP to the sensor and it STILL hasnt worked. even changing turnstiles doesnt alleviate the problem sometimes.
thats because emacs is the only program that includes everything and the kitchen sink. and lets keep it that way. we dont need another emacs running around.
this is exactly the kind of shit the poster asked people (very politely i might add) not to say. it doesnt MATTER if that will change anything, because its not an option.
uh no thats exactly wrong. if the kernel doesnt enforce any DRM, then any process written into the kernel to take advantage of DRM-protected material DOES voilate the DMCA.
i bet they distributed the money to the concert-goers. i know i would have demanded whatever portion of my ticket would have been given to that waste of a few good musical instruments they call a band.
of course they are trying to shut everyone else out. if they do end up marketing thiw wifi box, it will have some sort of authentication (its AOL timewarner isnt it) to make sure only poeple who are allowed to can use it.
i bet they even make it so that you can roam anywhere there is one of these boxes and market it as a feature for all their users.
grams? for the physics profs at berkley? you must be smokin some really good green if you think they would trade the history of their school away for mere grams of pot.
have you got a clue how infeasable that is? if it wasnt they would have already.
a) how are you going to prove who has what right to whatever media they have on their computer? b) whats to stop someone who has been tapped for investigation from purchasing liscenses for said media? c) how much money can you REALLY get out of someone for that? couple thousand bucks? there arent any real provable damages, the only lost revenue is from the CD sale itself, and since those are all under 20$ these days, the legal fees are going to hurt the RIAA/whoever more than the actual settlement.
uh. no its not. its the same price as the bare drive that it encloses. explain how this is overpriced?
>-it doesn't work with window or linux by default (you need special programs to use it)
BFD. you just bought a 400$ external harddrive with a firewire interface. if you dont have a mac, drop the 40$ for sofware to use the INCREDIBLE user interface for playing mp3s. or dont, and just use it as a fast external portable harddrive and stop complaining.
>-itunes SUCKS. I have used itunes on a g4/500 with 384mb ram and it takes at least 30 seconds just to load a playlist of 7 gigs of mp3s.
um the last time i tried to do that with winamp/xmms it took LONGER. and my powerbook is only 400mhz. and that was over a network connection. if you think those quick-loading times are beacuse PCs or their software is better, go turn on "load fileinfo on load" instead of on play.
>Toshiba's will probably be cheaper, won't need one of those expensive plastic boxes to run it (aka a mac), and won't force you to use the horrible itunes.
and it isnt cheaper, and it will probably suck more.
and this is different form when the Windows bigots come around toting XP as the best thing since sliced productivity? and then dont say a damn thing when the UPNP remote root exploit is discovered?
or how mac users come around and show off hot new hardware and OSX and such...and then fail to realize they have 10% market share?
i use and love (well i dont love windows, but its necessary) all three operating systems in their own right. each has a place, and each has its triumphs as well as mistakes. companies are good, companies are bad (and some are downright evil). you cant go around saying things like that without a small reality check.
its kind of a catch-22. by not commenting your code, you inevitably lock yourself into your job function. the more that you write, the harder and harder it will be for them to fire OR promote you. granted you might not be thinking about that now, but if you ever want to make it up to project manager, you HAVE to let your self be replaced. the key here is to get people to like you. then they have a MUCH harder time firing you.
so what. who uses the c3 anyway?
so wait - you are bitching because apple gave you guys a thousand dollar program, which after the release of 4 MIGHT get marked down to like 750?
lemme just call apple up and tell them to take it back, you ungrateful little wretch.
your parents & teachers just told you that to keep you from pulling stupid shit all day.

what is a crook? (besides richard nixon)
anyone whos seen Multiplicity knows that its not smart to watch michael keaton movies.
read again - the unit comes with a CDROM, you can upgrade to an optional DVD or CDRW drive for 50 or 100$ respectively.
actually they arent like altiods at all, because altiods dont taste like shit

sadly, we dont actually live in a democracy anymore.

they deal in whole pounds only.

id pretty much say nobody, since sloppy code would just cause wasted time, and therefore wasted productivity.
think about the last time your system crashed at work - how much work did you get done in the next 5 minutes?
eh. itd just end up being recycled net garbage that ive already seen a thousand times before.

scandisk and defrag on a Linux OS device? dont they mean fsck?
but when is the AIM-2k version going to come out? XP? are we expecting them to apply all the latests security patches and such?
imgaine: "target locked...firing...3y3 h4x0r3d j00...incoming missle..."
needless microsoft bash i suppose.
errr i meant less than 10%

judge not lest ye be judged.
how do you figure cheaper?
wireless access point > 100$
"nics" - ~100$
vs
8 port switch ~60$
nics 10-20$ (or, since all the computers you have already have them, free)
cable 1000' = 60$
50 rj45 heads = 12$
crimper = 12$
