Yup. Opera is my fave browser on my iPod Touch but it's not quite there for desktop use. So close to being me default desktop browser but it's missing some features and a little quirky but it's got HW acceleration across all platforms and plugin support (just no XMarks, FlashGot, or 1PassWord support). I always check out each new version of Opera only to uninstall it a few days later. If Facebook buys Opera I won't have to check out Opera anymore...
I've seen an increase in the in-show advertising on TV recently. Kind of annoying because it's so blatant but that's probably going to increase even more as the big networks try to bring in max cash.
GPS timing should be fine...the clocks (rubidiums) onboard the satellites get timing corrections regularly so should work and not be susceptible to hacking, spoofing, or any other major issues.
I agree my choice of words was weak but that's what happens when I write something, get distracted, and edit it. Stupid squirrels:)
I hope FB isn't MySpace in terms of longevity but my larger point was it's profitability. Other than ads they have social gaming and some other options, I just think they're way overvalued.
Right, but nobody can take any accountability nowadays for anything bad that happens...it's always someone else's fault. The fact that kid killed himself is horrible but how did his family and close friends not see this or allow him to get this way? They may have allowed it to go on by not trying to help and are just as guilty as his stupid roommate who filmed him.
FB is cool which is partly why it's so popular...other reason is it fills a niche that people craved. I think once FB tried to monetize itself and put ads everywhere the coolness will wear off and people will move elsewhere (e.g. Google+ or an unknown alternative).
Wow...I'm not disputing the fact they do this, I'm saying it isn't a perfect fit for the FDA. In any case, thanks for being spiteful and arrogant...always appreciated.
Last time I checked neither x-ray machines nor CT scanners are considered food or drug so why is the FDA involved? I could see the FCC or OSHA but not FDA.
Politicians forget they're elected to serve their citizens' needs. Once in office they perpetuate self interests, pork barrel spending, and propping up special interest groups and lobbyists who in turn bring them votes. Do something for the people and you will win a fuzzy prize called reelection. I wish politicians would go and listen to the grievances of their citizens so long as it's done in a civil manner (e.g. not an angry mob wielding torches and pitchforks).

One person dying from disease is not "natural selection." Natural selection would require something to stress the population and expose a weakness or strength between people which would provide an advantage in reproducing.
Kind of sounds like Android, though Android isn't quite as beeped up as Linux. If programmers pooled their skills and collaborated, rather than breaking out and doing their "own" Linux distro, they'd probably get somewhere. How many distros are there nowadays? I lost count. It's like every wanna-be "haxor" releases his or her own distro...work together and make something useful rather than making YALD.
This is the first of many scheduled flights as part of a new Eric Holder sponsored program to return illegal immigrants to their home of record (I know...bad taste, but I couldn't help myself).
of buying from Amazon is the lack of sales tax. Will they rack up another $34B in annual sales if everyone (for now just Texas but it will spread) must pay sales tax? What do the states plan to squander the money on anyways...
I too worked in the space launch business and delays always are lastg minute because they cost so much and everyone is waiting for someone else to be the reason for the delay. If there was a delay due to cryo problems the coding issue would never come to light as they'd feverishly work to get it done while launch is delayed due to "cryo issues."
Your sample size of one isn't too helpful...even if you were to have a lot more I doubt it would mean much since today's humans have little to force natural selection. Meaning, the genetically weak and the genetically strong both have about the same chance to reproduce...only when there's outside pressure or stress placed on a species will an adaptation (e.g. shorter period between children thus more children) be useful.
stop Chinese hackers from exfiltrating corporate and government data? If the NSA is monitoring all the Internet traffic they should easily be able to identify data being sucked out and sent to China (probably through a few third party countries). I've said this before...it is against US law to "spy" on US citizens in the US. My bet is the NSA is monitoring all the emails/traffic and if a piece of data meets certain criteria thresholds (e.g. terrorist conversations and the parties are not US citizens, etc.) they can act on it, if not it get forwarded to the bit bucket.
A typical iPhone contract will cost roughly $2500 (source: http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/06/iphone-4s-plans-compared-sprint-att-verizon/). You can get a bundle from Comcast that includes TV and phone for $75/month (http://www.allconnect.com/shopping/sc-bundles/bundles.html#selectedTab_bundle2_bundles) and save the difference which would be about $30/month.
Or you could reduce frivolous spending by a small amount to make up the difference and live like a king.
At the end of the day (and the beginning) technology makes it easier to spend money and easier to track expenditures (e.g. bank sites, mint.com, quicken, etc.) so it all depends on the maturity and responsibility level of the consumer.
I'd love some actual research but I also feel electronics does cause kids to be less patient and require more stimula/instant gratification than "back in the day".
What happens if one doesn't have a FB account? Didn't we care about the children before FB, what did schools do to vet teachers? Seems they want FB account access to make things easier but where does it stop and why isn't a search warrant needed?
So that makes DVD regions acceptable to you (e.g. because they're easily defeated) and Hulu's limitations are unacceptable (e.g. because they're more difficult to defeat)? I love your "logic". "I prefer 7-11's because they're easy to rob, those dang banks piss me off though though so I'll curse them and shake my fist angrily in their general direction." WTF?
Have you complained about DVD regions or just Hulu's restrictions which, as someone has already pointed out, are mandated by the copyright holders and not by Hulu.
If science uncovers something (e.g. global warming - which has been proven to have had the facts stretched) that the public thinks is important, it will perpetuate dumping money into continuing the "science" and the solution to the perceived problem. Science's problem has the same root as 99% of all other problems...greed (power or money or both), the other 1% is laziness.

Yeah, cue up the song they played when Captain Kirk fought Spock with that weighted half-moon thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rl46Dpy-P4

Can't use national resources like this to monitor us citizens within the us borders. It's against the law.
