    It's Open Source... How hard can that be! I mean really. it might be 2 lines of code more, or (if done right) just another database entry.

    It isn't rocket surgery people. that's the strength of OSS, you *can* fix it without having to beg for a fix from your vendor!

    Finance? Lol, the thing that makes more difference than anything else is parent involvement. The more involved your parents are no matter what your school finances the better you will do. We throw so much money at our public schools that some schools have enough money to have every one of their students get a limo ride both to and from school every day. Our public school systems in the US waste so much money its not even funny. I can see that you've never actually looked at a school budget. Lets take the school district I work for, as an example. our budget works out to (roughly) $12,000 per student per year. Factor in teacher salaries (Some of the lowest in the field - High end of the pay scale is $52k/year and that's with a masters, and having worked for just about 30 years) also, heating a building this size isn't cheap

    Why not suggest an addition to Tor that sends small amounts of random* bursty traffic from one node to another, Randomly, based on the average throughput of the node. create garbage traffic for them to filter through as well

    *Random in this case, obviously, means psudo-random

    - Hi there
    - careful, you're about to hit something
    - I just passed out and slumped into my steering wheel

    You try talking for a while with just a mono-tone "Hey" you'll find it's very difficult to be understood

    A big idea with SPIT is to get you to answer, claim to be someone you are not, demand a payment, and make money. If someone answers the call, it's an issue. Pestering rings at 4AM are a problem, but personally, I disable the VoIP box through a router rule at night, so I simply don't get calls at 4AM (though a voicemail will bounce to my computer and if it;s from a whitelist caller, my computer wakes me, as it's likely a family medical issue. There's only one thing worse than a wrong number at 1AM...

    It's not a nuclear power plant, but still, my network...

    I've set nagios up to monitor my network, and any los of signal is considered CRITICAL, not just a warning, but critical... and I need to know then.

    How could you have a slogan like "freedom is slavery" when the concept of freedom has been abolished? The whole climate of thought will be different.     two words: Bonded Courier

    extended version: Ask what form they want the data in... burn to cd/dvd copy to tape/etc.
    place in tamper-evident sealed bag, place in couriers hands with orders to release to nobody except the authorized person. ask for a signed reciept

    15%... dang... if only... my weight from before I met my wife to now (7 years on, of which 4 have been "married life") has been 120%

    now that being said...
    Before: 6 foot 2, 100 pounds even... competative ballroom dancer... 19 years old
    now: 6 foot 2, 220 pounds... IT worker, 2-year old at home.

    Congrats for the new kid. and as the proud parent of a 2-year-old myself, let me say... your eating habits will never (for some value of never) be the same again

    make sure you take enough time to play with the kids. it makes a world of difference

    It's a serious problem... Ant are warm blooded, and are going to like heat... Electronics produce heat (as do Air Conditioning units)

    Given the number of Data Centers we have, I'm surprised that we haven't seen more problems like this where bugs (the little six-legged variety) cause more problems.

    I do foresee a new booming speciality - Electronics-safe pest control (think Halon vs. Water for fire suppression, except for insects)

    this is how some of the old video games were "broken" despite using "random" numbers, the seed was always the same... leading to the same sequence of events
