    PLUS: I own this book. It's actually very good.

    Wrong. The only things the mouse is not good for are flight simulators. Everything else can be played -better- with the mouse.

    I'll never buy a console (never say never, i know) to play games for the following reasons:
    - huge amount of sport, stupid or low quality games
    - hardware/quality issues (see xbox 360)
    - game controls (I can't do anything without KB+M)
    - game resolution & eye candy (a game is meant to be played at 1600x1200x32 with all settings up) I have seen halo on TV it made me cry. Why do people torture themselves this way?
    - i don't have a TV
    - hardware is usually obsolete the day it comes out when compared to PCs. Except for the xbox but see related item above. If it's not, it becomes obsolete 6 months later.

    Another fine article showing up on Slashdot because there is the word "France" in it. It is rubbish. France is a strong Open Source supporter. Every government branch is considering getting rid of proprietary software. The French RIAA says it's bad and they're gonna sue everyone one... and it makes the "news for nerds" on Slashdot. Come on people it wouldn't even be accepted on foxnews. Who's the moron who accepted it?

    Man, make it circulate! Post it on /.! Denounce the disgusting tactics from microsoft. Aren't these guys rich enough? They rush an unfinished product to profit more from xmas. Let people know! Free the world from microsofte.

    The sadest thing is nowadays people don't really care about defective computer products because they are used to it. Before microsoft, rebooting your computer was uncommon, to say the least.

    People here seem to focus on coding rules but in my experience developers don't follow coding rules. The better the developer, the less likely he/she will follow coding rules. IMO what's more important than coding rules is the environment. I would first standardize compilers, tools and OS between all developers.

    Looking at this chart http://www.top500.org/lists/2005/11/l/Operating_Sy stem it actually appears that the OS ran on all system are:
    - Linux: 72.2%
    - Max OS: 1.0%
    - Others 4.4%
    - UNIX and Linux: everything else (~22%)

    So it appears that Linux/UNIX* runs on about 95% of all super computers. The Story headline should have been:
    Linux Claims Almost All Supercomputers Spots

    What a scoop.

    *Linux,UNIX, what's the difference really?
