Once properly modified, the TrackIR can be one cool toy but it probably will not be put out for mainstream use or adopted by any OEM's because overally, it will take longer to do things with the TrackIR then it will with a simple mouse.
overally -- what the heck is that? Is that like coveralls or overalls for OEMs?
If only the news story would have been on CNN then I would have been sure it was planted by AOL Time Warner. I never heard of SmarterChild before so now I tried it and is it ever fast and useful for movies, weather, etc.
If they make a box that connects to a TV and records content etc, using their broadband backbone, to play their content (on demand movies, etc) then I could see the pieces coming together. Still doesn't explain why they'd pay millions for something that is available for free (the source code) and hire developers to make their proprietary stuff on top.
But that won't stop the terrorists because they don't want carrots, they want blood. If you gave the Afghanis all they wanted it wouldn't stop the terrorists. bin Ladin has more carrots than you'll ever have (unless you are Bill Gates posting in disguise) and he still is a terrorist. Don't think that the populace will stop the terrorists because they are happy. They will just become victims of the terrorists!
It looked more to me like you needed to provide the code *prior* to downloading the software. So software that allows for use before purchase would not be covered.
The reason the inkjet printers are so cheap is that they make the $$ on the ink. Better to compare color laser and black and white laser. Now there's a difference.
Go into any video store and look around. You can find the crappiest movie you've ever seen and it'll have some bozo's name on the box with "the years best picture" beside it. I don't trust anyone's review but my own.
ChessBase: Do you think that chess might be promoted by the ability to play against people on the Internet?
Kramnik: There is only one answer to this question: chess profits more than any other activity from the Internet.
I always thought it was gambling and pr0n.

Mozilla users can't use that page either!
New leadership for KDE 3.1 is needed.
Beware the new Chancellor doesn't become and evil Emporer!
Now if we can get all the other ISP's to get on the bandwagon to just use the threat of litigation where a precedent has been set.
what the hell do the volunteer colonists (and their descendants) do for the hundreds of years it would take to get anywhere?
Do what people do now to kill lots of time: play games or hack on the next open source project.

I wouldn't want to be at the managers meeting on Monday morning! Bill will be on a rampage!
Heck, I don't even want Office for Windows! I use alternate products from Corel and Lotus.

Read Slashdot while taking a dump
You must be having to moderate through all that fp schlock.
As if video is the only need for broadband.
I need it to keep on top of the ever changing Linux binaries.
Bill Gates can help you get it to work.
That is why you are supposed to Preview before you Submit. There are warnings, you know.

That is about when I first got sucked into computers. Can't seem to get back out though...
Canadian politics is as corrupt as American but in a different way.
American politicians are influenced by money businesses give them.
Canadian politicians are influenced by giving government contracts to friends and relatives that own businesses.
They both are self-serving.
With a little research one could probably find a relationship between the givers and the givees.

So they'll have 8 million people that (if Juno gets its way) can barely spend any time on the net without being harrassed to stop using so many hours.
This happens everytime I get an email from an AOL user and open it in Outlook Express. If they only knew how many of their messages I didn't read....
is that you can tell if your computer is still running when you are on the other side of the house. :)

it calls into serious question its sponsors fitness to hold public office
This is your first clue?
