    Ridiculous.

Please explain why I frequently have 1 beer or 1 glass of wine in an afternoon or evening. I weigh 205 pounds and this doesn't intoxicate me at all. I find this behavior common amongst my friends and family.

Also, maybe you should read about the history of fermentation. It's a natural, self-limiting process that preserves and concentrates calories. That might have been useful for something else, no?

Actually, that is done for HA pairs. You can use nbd (network block device) and then create a RAID-1 pair across the local disk and the nbd. There are better alternatives now (such as drbd), but I'm not aware of any problem with nbd+RAID. Jeff

    Another chip designer here ...

Anything that lets us make transistors faster without paying a huge cost in leakage (power consumption when not switching) is a win. It sucks to go from one process node to the next and get almost no performance benefit unless you're willing to pay a leakage penalty. SOI rocks, but not everybody has it. Therefore, I'm a bit more excited about graphene than you are.

AOL and the MSN part of MS were certainly rivals. The icons plastered all over the desktop were put there by the hardware vendor. I know they paid quite a few different parties to put their icons on the desktop with the software install. AOL bought Netscape primarily to keep MS honest on the browser front, IMHO. Needless to say, they cooperated when it was in the best interest of both parties.
