If the point is to demonstrate the consequences of the law, well, I think I am quite capable of imagining what it means for a site to be shutdown. Or perhaps you are trying to emulate the stupid filmmaker who thought he had to demonstrate that eating to much will cause you to gain weight, as if this wasn't obvious.

You forget, you know technology. Joe Q. Public does not. The point of these blackouts is to show Joe Q. Public (who is known to be somewhat apathetic about politics) what the Internet will be like if these bills pass. The hope is to get them to get mad at their representatives for inconveniencing them for a day (or less than, depending on the site).

It's completely illegal and really ought to be the focus of an antitrust probe. You can't send a letter demanding payment for allegedly infringing upon a patent and be required to sign an NDA to see the patent. That's not a legitimate move and quite frankly, the MS execs that thought of that ought to be dragged out into the street and beaten severely with chairs.

Patents are public information for a reason, one should be able to look them up to figure out if one is or isn't violating one.

Have you paid attention to the B&N vs Microsoft lawsuit currently ongoing? The patents ARE revealed, at least in that case. B&N's trying to get an antitrust probe in play and are saying that MS is engaging in patent misuse. Its all over on Groklaw.

If Asus keeps the same software on the Prime that they had on the OG TF, you'll already have a remote desktop viewing application pre-installed. Its part of the MyCloud app, the MyDesktop section. It runs a version of the Splashtop software, the streamer version is free on their website. Splashtop themselves have their own app on the market (which is actually what I use, just because I like to keep up with their updates without waiting for Asus to update) as well.

It depends on the suburbs/residential areas. Apartment complexes are great places to find lots of wi-fi networks (and annoyingly, my complex have savvy enough people to have spread across all the available channels), but some of the ritzier sections of town (I'm thinking of a place here in Cincinnati where the minimum lot size is in the couple acre area) would cause more problems than the poor sections of town, due to density.

I write void on them when I setup an ACH account. I guess I could just keep a copy/scan of one but then I would never use them. I remember when I got my first check book. It was the key to my first bank account. I could write an amount on a piece of paper, sign my name and people would give me stuff. Then electronic payments via credit cards/ACH/etc. came. Bill payments seemed like the last to give in. The check book started as something wonderful to me and then ended with the memory of paying bills.

My CU has all the necessary information for ACH accounts online, no checkbook needed. I still write checks though, once a year for the DMV.

They stopped supporting my phone less than 1 year into my 3 year contract. Looking at the graph, its sad to see that there is no clear "winner" in terms of manufacturers that support their phones. It seems that they decided to maintain only some of their phones (eg. Motorola Droid, HTC Evo, and Samsung Galaxy). When I buy my next phone, how do I know if I'm buying an Evo or a Hero? Do I just pray that my phone is the one deemed worthy of support?

    Simple, buy a Nexus.
