Flash allows creation of external files??? Isn't that kind of dangerous in and of itself, whether or not it's intended to do so? You'd think a standard flash plugin wouldn't be allowed to do anything but read and write to a limited area of the disk!
If they are noticable in the film (not that Lucas' mere involvement in production isn't hindering these films enough) we really need to stop EP3 for ever being made. Actually finishing tying these pieces of ass into the original film (and the subsequent ones) is sinful and disgraceful....

Has anyone gotten NetBSD up and running on it yet?
Err, and really, who needs that much speed on a PDA? It's not like you're playing Quake on it (though, actually, that could be fun... playing Quake on a handheld computer in public could have interesting affects).
one of the universities of california (possibly bezerkeley) offered one of these before. and it's really a serious class, about the social implications/messages/etc. of the simpsons. I mean so much of it _is_ soecial commentary. I remember the UC class had students write their own episodes with a particular political theme in mind. very good stuff.
and the MSR IPv6 stack is absolutely wonderful, unfortunately, it seems marketing interests at microsoft have this uncontrollable urge to make all MSFT software suck arsebags.
Actually, it's alive and well, you just haven't heard about it on Slashdot for a couple of months because I'm not the media whore some others are. Check the CVS tree out via the web, and view diffs as much as you like. Hell, if you're a Slashdot junkie, we have a now-and-then updated site, community.xMach.org, that might interest you a little bit. In general, follow the mailing lists.
When you said 'GPL(GO OPEN SOURCE)' I immediately decided to not give you a real answer. I will just advise you (re: GPL(GO OPEN SOURCE) to read the 'Open Source' guidelines, and the GPL).
Okay, decided to give you a real answer anyway: You can't make retroactive license changes when you have already licensed a person (i.e. everyone who uses your code or recieves your code, under the GPL) under another. Much like how one party can't make a change to a legally binding contract. He can, however, relicense old versions, and not make GPL'd old versions available, any longer, as long as he is the sole owner of the code (though RMS would like to do away with code ownership).
You mention the GPL is free, and AtheOS is GPL'd, and while I will forego a rant about nonfree GPL and such, it is important to mention that Kurt (the Theo deRaadt of the GPL world) has often threatened to make AtheOS closed source, and keeps full control over the entire OS (where possible).
Funny, I thought that the BSDs had complete userlands under the GPL, and only a limited number of third party apps came from GNU. And there -are- BSDL'd compilers. TenDRA is great, and I've been making sure a large number of my projects can compile with it. I'd ask you not to speak out of school or out of your ass, but this is Slashdot, and you definitely belong.
It is his project, and he can run it like he wants. Did I ever say anything otherwise? I merely said that the way he chooses to run it shows him to be a meglomaniac of sorts.
And saying he beat HURD to the punch is a joke. HURD had at least 4 years more than Linux did, and never did anything useful until M[T]B was hired some time after Linux was already a mass-media buzzword.
It isn't relevent to the story, so I don't complain. I loathe Linux, and I hate Linus. He's a moron and has no idea about how to run an open source project. Not to mention the fact he has benefeited infinitely from it and STILL refuses to open it up to the community that worships him. If he weren't a self-indulgent prick just like RMS, Linux would be kept in a CVS repo controlled by an objective third-party group of developers, picked by Linus, and the community.
Saying RMS is hostile when it comes to GNU supported projects is a joke. This man will rear his ugly head in any GNU project and expect his voice to be heard regardless of what the developers want. Everything is instantly his even if his contributions amount to nothing. Who cares if he's responsible for the "movement"... Since when is code supposed to be driven by politics? Maybe in a small insignificant project, but you don't play political games with something you expect a community that worships you to use. Unless, of course, you're RMS.
I'm not quite sure at this point if I'll be going, as so far, I'm not sure I can afford a trip over there, and I don't know what kind of crowds it will draw. In any case, it's great to see BSD users in Europa getting a decent con. I hope to see me there:) --
What's ironic about that? What's wrong with that perspective? It happens to be true. RMS, ESR, Bruce Perens, et al. will tell you so if they have an ounce of credability. --
Above should be moderated Funny, not Informative.
Make me a sammich.
I'm dictating tasks too, deal with it and shut the fuck up.
Thanks,
juli.
I'll just have to get off my ass and set it up here and look for bugs then.
:)
Thanks
Is FreeBSD supported out of the box?
but how is a beta of RedHat Linux front-page worthy again?
Really!
Kathleen, say yes to him damnit, or we'll mod you down!
And we're shocked that the same male geeks who would actually fork over the money for TiVo enjoyed looking at Britney the most, too!

can't you just do a serialconsole if you need to actually log in, and do remote X sessions for when you need a GUI?

I suppose 2004 is just as good as 1984.

HURD works and is relatively interesting. Of course, it doesn't work well, but still *shrug*. I'd give HURD more credit that Linux.
And saying he beat HURD to the punch is a joke. HURD had at least 4 years more than Linux did, and never did anything useful until M[T]B was hired some time after Linux was already a mass-media buzzword.

And now back to your regular anti-bsd anti-microsoft FUD!!
Good thing too, GNUflunkies were starting to form their own opinions about shit!
