I mean come on guys xf86cfg isn't exactly rocket science, it no harder to use than playing with the control panel in Windows.
This was the first time he ever had access to anything mechcanical. Usually he wrote his stories with a pen and paper and had someone type them up for him. I'm amazed they allowed him to actually touch a working computer, alone.
* Does it still support floppy installation? (Someone said no, but the website [slackware.com] says yes, which one is right?) it still can be installed via floppy
# Does it still support UMSDOS installations? Yes, UMSDOS is an abomination, but sometimes such abominations are necessary to get the job done. yes
# I heard that a few versions ago, they added some support for System V style init.d scripts. Is that true? no idea:/
Eh, that's alright, I might download the extra cd later this week sometime. It'll give me something to do other than read and waste my summer being unproductive. Hehe.:)
I've never downloaded that CD myself either, I just download the install cd, burn it, and install it, and if I need X, I just go to here and search for the package I want to install. *shrugs* What is on the extra cd by the way?:)
Uhhh, seeing how I have the Slackware 8.0 cd next to me, I only count one cd [install cd] and that is all that is needed to install slackware, what do you need that you need to have it on 2 CDs?
What do you mean by "customizable mailing list"? AFAIK they do have a MS- and Linux-only vulns mailing list. And as far as keeping the server uptodate, shouldn't be too hard. Especially putting apt-get in your cron.
You forget to add Slackware to the list, one of oldest distros of all current distros today. I don't see Slackware fading out, and plus, it's not a company, same thing with Debian. RHL is the only company on your list.
Well there is a fault line near Brockport [about 10 miles south-west of me], but it hasn't been active in a long while. And well, I am just glad noone was hurt by the 'quake here last month.:)
I find that funny, because all the markets out there are controlled by different monopolies. Don't like AOL/TW content and want a different cableco? Guess what, you have to an entirely different market to get from under the AOL/TW monopoly. I really don't see how it is different now..
Besides, you had a 5.0 near Plattsburgh last month, so save the "we don't have earthquakes" crap.
yea, it was awesome for me down here in Rochester, my monitor started to shake a lil, and first thing I thought was "AWESOME my first quake", then I waited for more aftershocks or something... blah. I also agree that our ocean is broken. I'd rather see a sunset.:/
IIRC There is a nuclear power plant like 10-15 miles east of me. I only remember it because after 9/11 the local newspaper had an article about the state handing out some sort of pills to counter the radioation, if there was an attack at the plant and 3 Mile Island replayed itself. Also the state has National Guards units stationed at the power plant too.
Notice that China is communist and we're not actively trying to destroy them.
Quite the opposite, during the Cold War, we were aided to a degree by the Communists in China, because they didn't like the Soviet Union either. I think the Chinese hated the USSR more then we did.
In Kouqueror, you just type gg: in the address bar, and there are many more "Enhanced Browsing" options as well, like ex: for excite, seek: for GO.com, hb: for HotBot, etc. Go to Settings/Configure Konqueror/Enchanced Browsing to see them or set your own:)
If you had taken the time to RTFA, you would of seen this:
Meetings the Hawkinses arranged with politicians such as Sen. Orrin Hatch were encouraging, but nothing compared to to the response from top executives at Blockbuster.
Actually Wal-Mart does have stores in Europe, seeing they bought out the Spar franchise. You know, EuroSpar, InterSpar, etc? They are now owned by WalMart and when I was in Germany, the Spars where all over the place.
NO! AOL owns my uplink, RoadRunner, and they have been semi-decent. I refuse to go with Frontier, and I won't be in this area long enough to go over with a local ISP that offers DSL. So I'm gonna keep my cable modem till I leave. And I don't want them going out of business.:\
I did read it, and well, I assumed you were alluding to productivity. Creating something -> being productive. I apologize for making assumptions that weren't there. Yea, I did read your post, kinda fast.:P
Tell me how creating a work of fiction is uhm, productive? Yea, it paid his bills and stuff once he sold it and all. But come on, what he "created" isn't that significant in the RW. Yea, it is, if you are into that stuff, but for most people, LOTR is just a piece of fiction they were forced to read into school. *shrugs*
Ha! I don't have to worry about Ghandi, I just have to worry about the Zulus, Persians, and everyone else. Ghandi was wiped out semi-early in the game. But the French & English seem to have a problem with me sending spies to thier cities and just declare war on me randomly. Too bad the English have only one city left after the last war with them.;-)
That gives him a chance to make more money of the sucke^H^H^H^H^Hreaders who read his novels. Hehe. I haven't read any of his novels btw. But I've noticed that with other authors (no i can't name any right now) do that to make sure you will read the sequels they mass-produ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hwrite.:) Or am I just plain cynical for my own good?
Ohhhhh Thanks for the information, I really apperciate it. :)

It's a 4 CD set, not 2, even Slackware 8.0 is a 4 CD set if you buy it from the store, what a novel idea.

Monopolies on markets would only add to this.

Yea, I *recently* installed the new version [etc] on March 29:
Server Version: Apache/1.3.24 (Unix) mod_mp3/0.35 PHP/4.1.2 mod_perl/1.26 mod_macro/1.1.2 mod_gzip/1.3.19.1a mod_ssl/2.8.8 OpenSSL/0.9.6b

MIT is where the FSF, GNU, and RMS are from. So of course it's gonna get press from /.. OTOH if it was another school, it would of been rejected. ;-)
