they sure as fuck tried to patent pull down menus well before that
""In September 1985, Apple lawyers warned Bill Gates that Windows infringed on Apple copyrights and patents, and that his corporation had stolen Apple's trade secrets. Windows had similar drop-down menus, tiled windows and mouse support as Apple's operating system. Gates decided to make an offer to license features of Apple's OS. Apple agreed and a contract was drawn up. A couple of years later though Bill Gates will have again copyrights infringement problems with Apple (Apple vs. Microsoft & Hewlett-Packard copyright suit), and then he decided to claim that Apple had taken ideas from the graphical user interface developed by Xerox for Alto and Star computers.""
even in the 80's people were fighting apples lawyers over patents that already existed... Apple is the original computer patent troll and may they burn in hell for what they have unleashed (besides 30 years of fucking over their customers with substandard products glossed over in jizz)
Apple used to make their shit in the USA, I dont see why they wouldn't now outside of profit margins they help make stupid thin
and pointing out next? really they were ultra premium workstations with dick for nothing software based on honestly substandard hardware for the time, not even apple fanboi's could support that experiment. (yea I know almighty jobs used unix with a taskbar in the gui, here is your golden coin)
good luck in your quest of job's approval, the rest of us (including your god steve) live in the real world
How they know the homeless guy did it, yes I know its not impossible for people to get on a computer, but unless the guy had a freaking home office in his box its probably going to be on shared computers
this will be interesting when there is more than a 1 paragraph blurb
well your point happened about a half decade ago, and quality still doesn't matter because computers have become disposable.
Honestly unless I try playing a game (or maybe editing hd video, I dont do that) I cant really tell an appreciable difference between my 2.25GhzAMD XP, my 2.5 Ghz X2 or my 2.8Ghz X4, and 2 of those computers I fished out of the dumpster at my apartment. The software was screwed up and I can imagine someone getting a estimate for 175 bucks in repair on a 200$ computer.
mid to late 80's is when it really started hitting the fan, especially with the asian clones and very many of them could not care less about IBM and laws... course that came back and bit them in the arse pretty quick but the cat was out of the bag by then.
but heck even the tandy 1000 was released in 86... maybe a bit sooner and that was a legal clone
the market wont tolerate it, look at the 1980's everyone and their brother was making computers, often times using the same core parts but totally incompatible with each other. when the IBM clones started to hit market all those makers vanished. It was not because the IBM format was better, it was because everyone got even footing on a platform and their confidence in making an investment to hardware was reassured to not be worthless 6 weeks later.
We still see this today, ie ohh windows 8, oh desktop windows8 doesnt run the same shit as arm windows 8, well fuck that!
ok well instead of sending them billions of gallons of bottled water, why dont we send them a few tons of plastic wrap, tinfoil and nails?
and no I believe that what once was a problem has become welfare, somehow those exact same people have managed thousands of years in the exact same conditions, why and how? It sure as hell was not the world sending them a welfare check every month was it?
yea when there is a will there is a way in any situation, when I looked at one years ago it was before the whole "our mp3 player plugs into the can bus so it can cause a virus on your fuel injection and breaking system" days so it was possible, but I have no idea today.
At the time I didn't probe too deep, the stupid GM cost more, had less safety features, less gas mileage, less horsepower, less options than the Toyota I ended up getting for my wife... it was just one more nuisance to remove that cost a pile of money for some flunky to unplug a molex connector. Not to mention the thing ran like a bench grinder with a pair of scissors jammed in it and creaked like some ripoff rubbermaid tub in a tumble dryer just by shifting my weight (I like to lean on the door panel a little since Im a lefty and thats just the way I lean while sitting comfortably).
And some of them are royal dicks about it too. When I moved out to BFE I droped 500 bucks down on a 550$ deposit (hey I was moving and they offered to put it on my next bill cause I was a little short at that moment) the day the payment was due 7 AM and it took 2 days to restore + a 50 dollar fee
ya know its not freaking rocket surgery to desalinize water, give those people some toughs, clear plastic and some tinfoil and teach them how to use it. One great fictional character once supposedly said "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime" (yes in English...) which is not that bad of a bit of advice IMO
Now I know that wont help every single person in need, but that would drastically cut down that number, for the rest maybe they can learn how to use a bucket to hold rain water and be educated that fire kills most nastys living in it.
I had a excellent karma then I vowed to slay an apple fanboi while still logged in but all post were made as AC, it still killed my karma (It was bad, it might be satin by now)
SO! lesson learned if your going to start a hissy with someone while posting as AC, be sure to log out first
I find it much better to have a few accountable parties vs tens of thousands of unaccountable theives (like it was before regulation but I guess you are too young to remember that)
Agreed, I have a pile of Apple// disks that have out survived any 3.5 inch disk I have ever owned, things were just better quality back then and they had to be as it was your primary storage and not just a means to transfer data from one hard disk to another
I totally lost you, i thought you were asking for a pic to arduino converter, I say fuck the pic code and just use the arduino software with an attiny, but now I have no idea what your talking about.
It is a design philosophy, you the chip makers are the ones who made it expensive and closed (even though its not our day to day CPU's have been "RISC" for a while now) .

yes there are other options like shelters and cars, but I don't think its a relevant point of argument what the guy found for shelter
dunno, I had a turbo XT att clone, it has a bios date of 1986

+1 whoopie shit
most game devs forget that now

I am no expert but as I understand it no, best you can do is opt out and forget its transmitting 24/7

simple, here is what happened

yes they have the resources to pay even if its not on hand that exact moment. they dont keep it liquid cause of your first point
there is a big difference, IBM makes quality products people respect
I find it much better to have a few accountable parties vs tens of thousands of unaccountable theives (like it was before regulation but I guess you are too young to remember that)
when you dodge taxes
Agreed, I have a pile of Apple // disks that have out survived any 3.5 inch disk I have ever owned, things were just better quality back then and they had to be as it was your primary storage and not just a means to transfer data from one hard disk to another
nope, it would break compatibility with shields (which wont work anyway since this mcu is not 5 volt tolerent)
I totally lost you, i thought you were asking for a pic to arduino converter, I say fuck the pic code and just use the arduino software with an attiny, but now I have no idea what your talking about.
