    Agreed, I have 5.25's from as early as 1984 that work flawlessly, 3.5's on the other hand sometimes wont make it across town before crapping out

    IMO the 3.5 media is just too thin

    I guess I dont see what you are saying, ok maybe I see it for video playback but otherwise the computer is drawing every single pixel in the buffer and its sync-ed to the displays refresh rate

    now if your (insert game / application that eats power) is not redrawing the scene at the same rate thats a different story, but its still synced to the refresh rate, and old computers did this too, games would slow down but they wouldnt half flicker tear 2/3s of the way down on the screen (which they will if you turn off vsync and on modern stuff look hard enough)

    vsync? that's what it does, syncs the image redraw to the screen refresh...

    no, that was the only reason for the turbo button in the first place, later on it proved to be pointless cause unclicking it would only take your 386DX40 down to oh 16Mhz or so (for example)

    originally when they first appeared it was becuase of clone makers "turbo XT's" left off it would run at the normal 4.7Mhz and with turbo activated it would run ~twice that speed

    my experience with them at university level is glorified terminal operator and generally useless otherwise, in a public library it becomes a different story as they perform invaluable services to their community

    yea I go to the library to wander around and get lost a while, but when I was in college that was the last thing I wanted cause I needed material NOW!!!

    so I guess it depends on the function of the library, since yea this was a good deal and yea there was a hefty donation I will not go into how Illinois is broke, has a sky high poverty level, and if you find a town tween hours of cornfeilds its 3 farmers doing a circle jerk, and admit it was a good buy for a university

    as a public place of knowledge and literature its a total failure, as discovery is half the fun when you are not forced to do a scavenger hunt on a deadline

    well TBH FC4 is the main reason I switched to a debian system and have never looked back, I wonder how many of us there are out there?

    Not that I would not try it, but I will need a bit more persuasion than "we exist", there is plenty of that in the linux world

    yea and there for a while off brand memory stick pro duo's had major issues with working in PSP's, dont know if that is true today (my non sony brand 4 gig works fine and its 2008 vintage, but it was one of the few brands to never report problems in sony products)

    I understood this when looking at a riva tnt vs a open gl processor with removable ram, but often times now these are the same card with different settings

    SO in order for me to understand the difference between games and workshop in 2011 your going to have to do better than that 1 liner, its really up there with "mac's are better at audio"

    I use it cause I enjoy vintage computers, it lives next to a //c and a 386, and grats on 9 still doesnt change fuck shit about what it does in 7 which if you would stop gobbling steves cock for a second I have mentioned a number of times aready IN OS 7 you fucking dipshit NOT 8 or 9 it fucking works fine there, but then your comparing fucking windows 98 and 2000 to mac os 87 which is pathetic in its own little "mac os was a joke back then" way

    so my current experience with the machine sitting on the desk in the other room, that I have been using darn near daily for darn near a week now is shit cause your nostalgia coloured MEMORY says different...
