    on the other hand of this totally "works for me" story, I have a few 1tb seagate drives without a problem ... WD's on the other hand, every single one I have ever purchased in my life ends up dead with in 2 years.

    why not, my dentist and doctors have no issue asking that question, and once I settle on a date I usually plan around it.

    My old Geforce9600 GT, and my slightly less old GTS250 plays every (shitty xbox360 port) game no problem in higher resolution than any notebook provides with little stress, seriously doubt facebook, or shit even solidworks (which runs like butter on a mobile intel chip) gives a shit.

    Software has once again peaked, and stagnated for a half decade, while hardware is running nuts for no real reason

    against the major DE's there are a quarter dozen that do all you preach without being suck a decade behind

    I aint using a 486 for a storage server, and my machine sure as shit a K6-2/500

    I have a 4.2Ghz quad core AMD cpu, 16 gigs of 2ghz ram and a pair of SSD's in raid

    so do I really give a shit about a graphic tachometer telling me that a text editor will bump that needle up by a fraction of a pixel?

    yea I know its just a thing, and it can be removed, but from the first screen shot, I get the impression that this software is STILL stuck in 1996, and I am 16 years old

    exactly, and their cutthoat pricing for enterprise customers doesnt help ... I didnt want the dell laptop issued to me, but for 499$ its a nice little fucker, huge drive, gobs of ram, decent screen, and when the roof leaked on it, leaving it in a puddle of water, a good dryout time and its been working fine for months.

    cheap, powerful tank ... its hard to argue with

    you paid for the city government to lay dark fiber for years, then they are handing it off to a private company who will gouge you to flicker lights at the ends of it?

    yes I know there is more to it than flickering lights, but I also know the ISP is not going to provide this service for operating cost + small percentage, they will run with it, charge as much as every other fiber service and you footed the bill for their infrastructure, that is "on lease" at a deep discount for might as well be life.
