    on the flip side you can still fire up dos on a 6 core multigighz monster, its not going to see your SATA drive and its going to clip your memory, but in all they have done a good enough job keeping things backwards compatible

    apple ... not even close, and they have in the past withheld future software from running on older machines, even though they were perfectly capable of it, just cause you needed to buy a new mac.

    to see the future of their current products, just look at the past ... then you wont be surprised

    my phone doesn't like certain MP3's, ogg's existence is non, I don't want to be tied in to a media player like windows or apple, and here's another option that's promising me the universe, but has no support

    in the year 2012 I hear there's going to be terabytes of storage for less than 100 bucks, cheap internet can download a ISO in a jiffy, and my 386 can play a wav file ... whats the point again? oh that's right, you want the entire history of recorded music on a 1x1 inch square cause anything else would make you choose.

    I dont know the appropriate forum, as I am not an experienced web developer, nor would I expect any serious answer from slashdot when I do need it, I develop electronics, I dont post which FET has the best ESD damage resistance on slashdot, nor would I expect anything but random opinion from it.

    when your serious, you get the data from people who have been down that road, and test it yourself, not post to some news recycler and hope for the best.

    I am not an experienced developer, but if I were I sure as shit would not be asking about it on slashdot, to be honest as I stand here now, if I needed some serious advice about any situation, I would not be asking on slashdot, I would be asking on a forum where people live and breathe the topic at hand like their lives depend on it, cause they are professionals, and not the peanut gallery of random trolls, tards, fanbois and neckbeards.

    yea, I had a 300$ one in the 90's and another 300$ one with high resolution TFT's in the early 2000's, delay was well below 20ms and it still boils down that a flickering screen less than an inch from your eye, in stereo will make most peoples heads split in a matter of moments. not to mention even the lightest one I had at only a handful of ounces was still flat out uncomfortable.

    your right its not the 80's anymore, but just cause they reduced the issues, doesnt mean the issues are gone.

    emulators are not the only thing available, and it does open up a new world to people. How many XBOX or PSP games have you developed? Me 3 of each, and yea they were shit, but I found them fun and I learned a lot about the systems worked.

    SO quit bitching about something you will never do, get off your ass, crack a system and get writing... obviously you are desperate to be the new turd party developer, so get going and stop pissing your pants.

    oh I know, I saw a story on 60 minutes, where "some guy" couldnt afford his frankly lavish house in california cause he lost his 40$ an hour car detailing job. 10 years older than I, I couldnt do anything but be boggled at how someone with an high school education doing a job that damn near any teenager does EVERY Saturday can sit in front of national TV and shed a tear.

    its a factory assembly job with very low entry requirements, just like everywhere else, you do your thing, all day every day, for a modest pay that can support your family if your not living beyond your means.
