  1. Apple's Legal Department on Good News For Creating Quicktime On Linux · · Score: 3, Interesting

Does anyone else think that Apple is going to shit a brick over this? I'm sure they don't mind Linux users being able to view Sorenson encoded files because they arn't really loosing anything, Linux users just otherwise wouldn't view these files. But now people have an option to make quicktime moves without paying for Apple software. (I'm saying this assuming that Apple dosen't make any free Sorenson encoding programs)

Nope, I can't. But the important parts of this argument were the orgional message and my reply. Which are rated 4 and 3 right now :) But that dosent really matter. The point I was trying to make is that the moderation system on slashdot produces acceptiable(sp?) results. Some good comments dont get moded up, and some bad ones do. Like I said its not perfect, but is is good enough.

The funny thing about your post is that it proved to me the exact oppisite of what it said. As I scroll down the page here i see no "First Post", penis bird, goatse.cx, Beowulf clusters of grits, and NPN&P. Thats because I have my threashold set high enough to filter all of those out. No, Its not perfect but Its not bad either. I think thats what they're trying to do here. Allow anyone to publish, but have a distributed moderation system.

    Probably not.
The problem is that in order to have a sane voting system the number of candiates has to be limited or else we would be overwhelmed in deciding who to vote for. I vote for candidates that agree with me on issues that I deem the most important. And unfortunatly I am going to disagree with them on some other issues. Fact is that most people don't care about the DMCA. This does not make them morons. There are tons of other issues that the feel are more important.
