they should fix the terrible zero-click UI for moderating
Technically, it's one click to open the menu, and one click to select the moderation;)
I agree 100% though with the rest, though. There needs to be a temporary undo feature or an actual submit button after you select the appropriate modifier.
Use technology designed to find asteroids that could hit earth in order to nudge asteroids closer to earth.
I think your idea is suicidal. This will encourage us to find an adequate method of deflecting or completely eliminating the threats posed by asteroids, which will increase in number if we start playing with their orbits. In addition, if there was a real threat, the whole world might actually wake up and stop killing each other, if only for a short period of time.
Let's first determine threats, and find methods to deal with said threats, before we start creating more of them.
It's no surprise that this happened the way it did, and that the rest of the world really despises us because of the way our government throws it's weight around.
I was once proud to be an american. Perhaps I still am, but my pride is severely diminished as of late.
In the United States, a design patent is a patent granted on the ornamental design of a functional item. Design patents are a type of industrial design right. Ornamental designs of jewelry, furniture, beverage containers (see Fig. 1) and computer icons are examples of objects that are covered by design patents.
One, it's still a patent. Two, people are disagreeing with the nature of granting a patent for something incredibly obvious.
Assuming life exists at the target, and it is intelligent enough to understand that it may not be alone in the universe and is actively attempting to answer that question, would it be incorrect to capitulate that perhaps we can expect intelligent life to maintain high power analog communications for exactly that purpose?
SpinRite is good. I've also used Hitachi's DFT (extensively) and the PC-Check Suite (used while working for Geek Squad), which has a really nice stress testing routine for hard disks.
Taking cuttings from plants in general is even more common.
I'm curious to see these examinations performed on a larger variety of plant types and species..
They merged with Time Warner. That's the only reason.
This commentary on this article will undoubtedly be similar to that of a troll festival.
Ooops, *looks above post*, too late.
It is the only subject which was created 100% by humans.
I know I'm nitpicking a bit here, but people discover knowledge.

Gmail is getting better every week.
Too bad I still have a freaking 25MB attachment size limit, which makes that ~10GB allotment fairly insignificant.
I'm not sure if this is a Gmail-specific issue, but I'd like to be able to send more than just PDF documents, ya know?

People must be blind if they can't see how much current intellectual property regulations are stifling innovation.
[...] we'd also start helping out some core area of the kernel too? Would that kind of thing help our image even if we didn't open up our HW?
You seem to care more about NVIDIA's image than about what the Linux community actually needs.
I truly don't understand what the big deal is. Just open up your damn specifications already.
In the sense that people read Playboy magazine for the articles.
Dude, the guy doesn't fucking 'run the internet.' Nobody runs the internet. It's like a flame, it's a manifestation.
The real title turned out to be far less exciting.
In the case that they were of equal or higher intelligence, what makes you think they would want to deal with us?
is there a reason the concept works for audio better than video?

they think a good 'web designer' is someone with some kind of qualification in graphic design
And they would be correct. A good web designer IS somebody with some kind of qualification in graphic design at least 90% of the time.
A good web developer is what most companies don't realize that they need.
There are good designers a plenty in this world, but good developers seem to be spread a bit sparsely these days.
Good thing it's not Klingon-built.
New Cyber Security Bills Open Door To Gov't, Corporate Abuse
Sorry, but that door you speak of has been broken down, smashed, and burned for a long time.
Nobody in power gives a shit anymore, or they're completely ignorant (and, quite possibly, mentally handicapped).
Perhaps their efforts are fueled by a more private agenda, but I still see Google as the least evil in the crowd.
Here's a hint: it's an analogy.
The point is this. You implement precautions. You then follow up with contingency plans.
Although this was a technical mishap, it doesn't eliminate the necessity for the robots should something terrible occur.
Write to your senators, your representatives! Tell them you oppose this bill!
http://www.opencongress.org/contact_congress_letters/new?bill=112-h3261&position=oppose
Tell your family, friends, even the guy at the gas station to do the same!
This bill WILL get passed if we don't make our position clear to elected officials!
When did Noah build the ark?
Before the rain.
