"Europe" pays nothing. EU dues to the UN are precisely zero--the EU doesn't even have a seat in the General Assembly! Talking about how much "Europe" pays makes as much much sense as adding together China, Korea, India and Japan and talking about how much "Asia" pays.
Don't laugh. If the sleeping giant we call the UN General Assembly were to awaken and get angry,
Absolutely nothing would happen. Because the General Assembly doesn't have the power to vote on anything stronger than making an unhappy face. It takes the Security Council to do anything real.
Well, *almost* certainly. I used to be a tape operator, doing the grunt work in a tape library with no robots. While such things are now almost as rare as punchcard machines (which I also used to operate), I figure there's probably still a few out there.
What I mean is that OpenBSD is really secure in its default setup... because it doesn't do fuck-all. Security via turning off everything isn't really that impressive.
That's called "hardened by default." Turn on what you need and you don't wind up with security holes because something you didn't need was on by default and you didn't realize it was there. This is a *good* thing. It *shouldn't* be that impressive, because everybody should be doing it, but they don't, so yes, it is in fact impressive.
So he broke into a secure environment, serruptitiously obtained confidential and/or classified information, and used his take to successfully gain a competive advantage over his peers? And somehow this makes him unsuitable for employment at the NSA? If he'd just 'fessed up he'd be the first new guy to start his job with an employee of the month award.
I know it marks me as a giant nerd, but that still makes me think of the written chuunin exam in Naruto, where the whole point was to cheat on it without getting caught...
And the one about the theater specifically, is surely about as old as affordable cell phone service.
Try, as old as theaters, and not just movie theaters, either. There are lots of people who don't need a cell phone to babble on anywhere and everywhere.
How the Affordable Care Act doesn't have this coercion, I can only guess.
It did. It denied states that didn't implement Obamacare Medicare and Medicaid funding. That portion of the ACA got struck down by the Supreme Court, who ruled it was *too* coercive.
When something gets modded down as "Overrated", it doesn't change the mod classification. You can get modded all the way down to -1 with a positive mod class that way. It also works the other way with "Underrated", leading to such things as "Score: 5, Troll".
An atheist does not believe in god, therefore who cares?
One notes that first four commandments are dictates on how you will worship. Only once the *important* rules have been laid down do the commandments move on to "good rules to live by".
May I ask, WTF happened to actually making Androids / Gynoids as per the original thinking? When did that dream go out of style?
When it was discovered that getting a robot to walk is bloody hard. We've just barely done it with four legs. Two legs is stil way off in the distance.
Surprisingly enough, I think this may be fairly serious. The big US Internet business are becoming increasingly scared that the spectre of NSA mass data-gathering is going to shut them out of markets outside the US.
Columbus makes an interesting poster boy for creativity. He was, of course, wrong (In 1492, any educated person knew the world was round; the proofs of it are readily seen by anyone who looks. The point of disagreement was how large it was. Columbus thought it was smaller than the general opinion, which made the Indies a reachable distance away sailing west. However, he was wrong; the generally accepted figure of the size of the world was correct (and surprisingly accurate)). But because his wrong idea drove him to try something new, he opened up something even bigger than he had envisioned.

(Burn, baby, burn) Software inferno!
(Burn, baby, burn) Burn that mother down!

Because *everybody* should pay the Apple tax! It's only right!

Ah, the Policitian's Fallacy in full flower. "Something must be done. This is something. Therefore we must do it."

Only Tron fights for the user.
Nothing. Of course, I would have also taken away its Launch Missiles permissions as well.

(glasses) ...it's on.
(YEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!)
"Hey, you've got a lot of money. GIve us some of it."
On a treadmill, and on broken ground like a drunk. Not impressed.
Call back when it can run.
