You have redefined "peer review" to suit yourself. Getting a few selected "peers" to evaluate and critique the paper is exactly what peer review is. You don't get to make up your own definitions for existing words.
This is false. The mat is NOT cancelled and the media should be ASHAMED of itself for reporting only what Apple's competitors tell them to report.

when appearance is prioritized over function. When it came out, all the reviewers went into paroxysms of ecstacy about how thin it was. Now we see what happens when it''s not as thick as it needs to be.
Yes, we are. And this habit is so ingrained, and so baked into all our systems, that it's not going to be changed. The majority of people's work days are going to start at 9 AM, even when that means that 9 AM can't be the same moment in time across the globe.
I bet those Swedes and Finns living high up in the north would find that highly unusual.
Not much you can do about it when daylight is only a couple of hours long.
Only a handful of people live where such conditions apply. There's a reason for that. Good luck imposing those conditions on people who never agreed to live under them.
3 am or 4 am sunrise hardly makes a difference if you want to sleep until 7 or 8 am. Get some good curtains if the light bothers you.
The problem isn't so much that the sunlight interfers with your sleep, as you waste daylight hours asleep and then are active after sunset in the dark. It's better if you get up earlier and have more daylight at the end of the day, hence, daylight savings time. I've particularly noticed this advantage as I've gotten older and my night vision has deteriorated; I very much appreciate having daylight to see by in the evenings.
But Pepperidge Farm ain't just gonna keep to Pepperidge Farm's self free of charge. Maybe you go out and buy yourself some of these distinctive Milano cookies, maybe this whole thing disappears.
If you understand what it means and how to apply it. If you blindly slap on the formula and use the resulting number to say, "Look, it's significant!", then, no, it isn't.
Can't bribe or influence an AI the way you can humans;
Sure you can. Machines don't magically appear by immaculate conception. You can bribe or influence the AIs by bribing or influencing the engineers who design them.
Is this a 737 Max 8 problem or a training problem?
Both. The pilots need more training in how and when to override the MCAS, and the MCAS shouldn't have a single point of failure in the angle-of-attack sensor.
I'm not. You, however, apparently are.
That way, he doesn't have to pay for any of it and totally absolved of any responsibility.

Of course they are. Palpable bitch tears are the best kind!
Er, peer-reviewed articles can be and often are behind paywalls.
Gee, msmash, thanks for the slashvertisement.

Duh.
when the AI wins the Turing Award. I imagine it'll need to pass the Turing Test first.

Fine. In San Diego at this time of year, it would make sunrise at 1:40 PM and sunset at 4 AM. Good luck talking them into that schedule.

Can't make that work. Unless you can persuade some people to be fine with the fact that it will be twelve noon and pitch black outside for them.

Well, how about chess? Have you read about some of the greatest chess masters? Alekhine, Fischer...
*Raises hand.*
48, incidentally.
I though it was saying the algorithm would work before 2010.

Yep, it's a bot. Not a particularly smart one, either.
I've got to say, the posts are giving me a strong yen to start moderating up every Kendall post I can find, just because they're so irritating.
