Thats what this whole arguement is all about. the fact that these artists are selling THIER copyrighted music on CD-R. Ebay is banning them purely because it is Music on CD-R and it "must be pirated, there is NO other reason to have music on CD-R!"
this is nothing new... it used to be a quality rag to read daily, but in the last 2 years it has gone down hill what with all the dupes posted, that reminds me.../me rummages through old slashdot articles and notices that there hasnt been that any dupes since april fools.
this should be reposted in about 3 hours so we can all have this same situation all over again
Actually I think the ISP's definition would probably be anything that is connected by means other than dialup modem(cable/xDSL) and faster than 128k(isdn)
its sad really that they can now begin to fleece the people who dont know any better, but if you think of it, if they charge a decent rate for 128k/256k service, then the people who would like a little more kick than dialup but arent on the net ALL THAT MUCH, would probably benefit from that service.
I pay $45 a month for 1500kbps/256kbps, and since Im basically across the street from the switch I get it pretty regularly, usually I hover around 1200kbps/256kbps
I always find Screamin deals on LCD's there, I bought 3 Dell 1900FP's Just before X-mas for $1300, Dell was running a Buy 2 get one free deal, and I couldnt pass it up the LCD's are GREAT
It will never cease to amaze me the amount of people who equate technology making tasks simpler with being lazy.
Maybe I'm tired of having 6 remotes on my table, and when i want to watch tv(actually movies) i have to search for one to control the TV (on-off), one for the DVD(play, rewind, stop), and one to control the sound of my Theater, and I actually have the disposable income to justify spending $3-600 on a Remote control (although it is VERY hard to justify that $600)
STOP thinking that just because I am a Alpha Geek that I Desparately need to exercise!
"Now there's alot of people saying "use a palmpilot" but they don't know what they're talking about. The palmpilot and the like's IR transmitter simply isn't powerful enough to work as remote control. Think about it. If it says it can send files from up to a meter away, what makes you think that it's going to be able to control your television at 4 meters?"
the new Ipaq's (not just the 5450 but some 3900 series, and i believe a 3800 series too) have consumer grade IR, and come with Nevo from universal electronics, They work Really well, but you are also giving up your PDA to use as a remote
Ive been looking for a remote just like the high end pronto
Color Cheaper Programmable by that I mean I can move everything around to my liking, not just a learning remote. Easy for those in my household that arent to tech savvy to be able to use without being overwhelmed
The last three being the most important. ya ya i know choose 2, but there are oodles of the choose 2 variety that just dont cut it
Does anyone know of any roll yer own solutions?
I have tried the sony and it worked but it was choose 2 (cheaper, and easy to use), and I used my Ipaq 5450, but while having 3 of the 4 qualifications (programmable, easy to use and color) I found that since it is also my PDA the others in my house didnt like the fact that I had the remote with me all the time.
Iff'n yer so damn smart how come you brought the wrong damn OS CD's
From the article: # A utility for reading and repairing hard disks # 'regmon' and 'filemon' from Sysinternals # Video drivers (but I don't know which) # A diskette for booting MSDOS with CD support # Digital books (but I don't know which) # Remote controlling tools, such as VNC # CDs with OS (but there are hundreds of those)
Obviously the guy ran into Windows or DOS machines, which couldn't run Mac OS X
Here is an excerpt from the Discussion over at brighthand on this, I followed it and had no problems with installing japanese support on a Dell Axim, Ipaq 3650, and Ipaq 5450
"It seems that some of you want to see and Input Japanese on their US/EUR PPC
here you are all you need and a Step by step process Enjoy!
Fisrt of all you don't need to flash the rom of your PPC, I was obliged to do that on my Japanese Ipaq just simply coz I was fed up to not be able to run some software properly and to wait for Rom Update.
What you need is very simple: -The Japanese FONT MSGothic From a Japanese PPC -A file called wince.nls from a Japanese PPC -2 reg keys -TascalRegedit soft in order to import those key.
Please not that you will only be able to read Japanese not Input Japanese
By reading I mean that you can even see the Kanji of a Japanese soft installed on a US/EUR PPC and of course surf the web in Japanese.
By not be able to imput Japanese I mean that you can no write in Japanese for that you need to buy a Japanese Input software and as well import some Key in the registry (can give you more details if you Need)
Finally I am not the guy who created this and all the Info are comming form Pocketgames Japan (Thanks Koji !) And It has been working perfectly on Compaq/HP (3630 1910 3970 5450) or O2 devices but almost destroyed a Casio E-200 (Hard reset Manipulation was even not successful, was obliged to put away both backup battery and main battery in order to be able to use again the PDA)
so you can Dl the files there: The reg keys (2) Reg Key The Font (2.2Mo zipped and 4Mo unzipped) Japanese Font The WinCe.nls Wince.nls
Thru Active Sync overwrite the wince.nls file which is in your Windows folder, put there as well the Font Don't put neither the wince.nls file nor the font in any other place, folder subfolder than the WINDOWS folder.
Now form TascalRegedit Install the 2 Regkey, soft reset Et voila !!!
to make sure go into my regional settings and you should see that:
Now you can read japanese, so what about inputing Japanese?
This is not the most perfect input methode but this Methode is FREE !
Now you just have to download this soft called POBox, and you will have a New Keyborad available in your PPC. Also in the Zip file you will find a folder called Dic, just put this folder in the C: root of your PPC et voila ! it will works like a charm
(There are some bugs, I mean that the imput panel overlap the dictionary but if you know your Knaji you will recognized them easily)
14/03/03 Update on the Overlaping Problem
Thank you very much for Koji of the Famous and extremly well known Pocketgames JAPAN and Have a look to the link above !
He got the answer of the overlaping problem when using the Soft ComPOBox, you need in the registry to change one single value and you will fix the PB. here you are
in [HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelSip] You have MenuBarHight 0000001a So now change it to 00000000
Every little bit counts
Thats what this whole arguement is all about. the fact that these artists are selling THIER copyrighted music on CD-R. Ebay is banning them purely because it is Music on CD-R and it "must be pirated, there is NO other reason to have music on CD-R!"
I have read that if you drink water ICE COLD(as cold as you can stand it preferably) that your body has to burn up calories to warm up the water.
So in effect now only is water not fattening it helps you lose weight, albeit I bet the real effect isn't that many calories in the grand scheme.
Your new to slashdot aren't you.
/me rummages through old slashdot articles and notices that there hasnt been that any dupes since april fools.

I am sooo glad that the only thing that they seem to have ADDED for some stability somewhere on the car, was done with DUCT TAPE!
Anyone Remember Bolo?
That was an awesome Tank Program... anyone that remember it know if there is a more recent version(win or linux)?
Actually I think the ISP's definition would probably be anything that is connected by means other than dialup modem(cable/xDSL) and faster than 128k(isdn)

they are not advertising to the geek aparently.
mmmm Pi.
so by that definition then broadband is what... Coconut Cream, Keylime, or Chocolate Silk!
not in my opinion for that price.
I pay $45 a month for 1500kbps/256kbps, and since Im basically across the street from the switch I get it pretty regularly, usually I hover around 1200kbps/256kbps
The operative word being My Opinion
I'm partial to Ninjai for my Flash Drama...
But alas they also Suffer from bandwith Costs and keep taking thier episodes offline.
I didnt link as to not drive up thier BW Costs, You can find them if you are so inclined to look them up
Look at Fatwallet's or Anandtech's Hot Deals Forums for LCD's...
I always find Screamin deals on LCD's there, I bought 3 Dell 1900FP's Just before X-mas for $1300, Dell was running a Buy 2 get one free deal, and I couldnt pass it up the LCD's are GREAT

Constantly Updated Technology means Better IR capabilities than your old Palm III
I dont know about Palm, but the new Ipaq's have Consumer Grade IR and come with Nevo a Universal Remote Program.

thats the 5 meter platform
Sweet Then I AM part of the group!!!
How else do you think I can get my Centrino(TM) Laptop to have a connection on:
the driving range
the 5 meter platform
the roof of my skyscraper
Yer sig just worked out perfectly, I wasnt trying to troll or anything, it just struck me so I had to respond.
Iff'n yer so damn smart how come you brought the wrong damn OS CD's

so now will the movie theaters run linux?
Put it in yer hosts file and it's easier than that long ass Reg Key
64.28.67.150 s #slashdot.org
216.239.33.100 g #google.com
those are just a few of the ones in my hosts file
add those lines anywhere and then you dont have to have it be Browser specific "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"
but then again I use Phoenix and just have google, and slahdot as different tabs specified as my homepage so they both load when I start Phoenix
"http://www.yahoo.com | http://www.google.com | http://www.slashdot.org"
Wouldn't it then go
1. Have coder install endless soda fountain.
2. coders' teeth fall out
3. PROFIT!
since you have the roadmap you don't need the ???
