If there's one thing that bothers me about slashdot, is that for all the tendency we have to stay on the edge of tech, we are behind even Fark in terms of "funny" memes.
For a while I sent clients both,.doc and.odf attachments with a note at the end that said you could download Openoffice for Free if you didn't have MS Office and blah blah. But it got tiring. I'd love a way to save multiple formats in a single click.
I did convert a couple of people to Open Office, at least.
It's not because of the crap showing at E3. As I understand it, it has more to do with the owner/president throwing a very public tantrum in interviews and printed magazines about how the press should only "look at the good parts of games" and how "they didn't even want to be in E32 and so on and so forth. He was very outspoken about it.
And really, they made *one* arguably good game. A game that ran a little long (play through 3 times to get the good ending? Right...), and was marred by a few design flaws - such as, after about halfway through the game, you get spells that practically make you invulnerable, restoring your "Sanity" stat and magic and so on. Which meant that you didn't get to experience the much talked about "insanity" effects unless you purposely went for it, which obviously destroys de surprise.
There were some pretty funny insanity effects, however.
"When Dave Packard died, upper management and the bean counters started salivating. When Bill Hewlett died in 2001, these same people instantly sought to change the "HP Way" to try and get a couple more percent in growth. The rest is modern history."
Yeah... They went to be #1, beating even Dell computers in the PC market.
I know you mean it as a joke, but the sad part is that Team Fortress 2 players are finding that "downgrading" the game's directx to 8.1 is giving a significant performance increase with a negligible visual degradation.
Watch the Developer's Commentary on TF2. It's really interesting, and they mention they took inspiration from a 50's artist, which I forget the name of, but clearly the Incredibles ripped him off too.
Do me a favor. When your friend inevitably calls you up for help with his new Vista OS, tell him you can't help him because you don't know this new OS, and have him call Microsoft for support, as it should be.
" A special thanks to Jay Maris, for circumventing there entire email-security by forwarding all your emails to your gmail account, and using the really highly secure password: blahbob"
I agree. I don't know if you thought I asked for antibiotics, maybe my message was misunderstood. But I don't, I prefer to wait and evaluate what ails me instead of running for penicillin at the first sign of trouble.
But try telling that to mothers who NEED the doctor to prescribe *something* because their 8 year old is DYING of a small cough and a headache.
I personally feel my immune system is much stronger, and I've had very, very limited exposure to antibiotics.
And it filters germs and bacteria down to what size? Because the whole point of this article is that the new filter stops anything bigger than 15nm. I would like to think that you at least read the article.
Don't be fooled. This Moller person pops up every year on Slashdot and other websites touting his machine, with the same 10 second clips of a "flying car". Add me to the list of people who will "Believe it when I see it".
I post this because I remember this exact same person being promoted here on slashdot at least 3 years ago.
Really? A year 2000 joke?

What the hell is that last emoticon? ":3"
Is it the elephant man? Is it two eyes and two testicles right below it? Is it the emoticon for "Teabag"?
I just can't keep up with the internet these days.
Yes, please! Great idea!

All Japanese-RPGs. Way different than traditional, PC-style RPGs.(Yes, I know OBlivion was released on consoles, but you get my drift)

If that's not depressing...
And don't get me started on Hotmail's "mysterious" tendency to completely miss messages coming from Gmail accounts.
No, they don't even show up on the "Spam" folder, I've checked. I don't know if this is random, but it's very suspicious.

Real angsters tune down to A minor -_-

There's no in-depth info, there's no link to an article, it's not a review, there's no real information.
Seriously, editors, what the hell.
Could you expand on this? What sort of experiences have you had?
I had never heard of "Bleep.com". How do they stack up against Amazon's new service?
Do me a favor. When your friend inevitably calls you up for help with his new Vista OS, tell him you can't help him because you don't know this new OS, and have him call Microsoft for support, as it should be.
So what's the big deal here?

If anything, when someone uses homeopathy for their cold, they are at least avoiding more antibiotics from normal doctors.
It's obvious you didn't even read the article.

This is not an OS! This is at most a file manager. I just hate that they don't distinguish the difference.
Also:
"Thank you for visiting ajaxwindows.com
ajaxWindows and the Ajax13 web site are temporarily down for planned
maintenance. We expect to be back up by 2:30pm, PDT on 9/10/07
Thanks for your interest, please visit our site again, soon."
What shit. Yeah, I'm going to trust my files to that.

Yes, but does it have AERO? Fuck no! Windows Vista wins, yet again! ;)
Plus, he was deaf, so that explains everything! ;)
""I'm due to talk to the head of Tilera's software team, which is actually larger than the company's hardware team.""
He must be a really fat guy!
