Perhaps you're right. See, I looked and I saw a handful of formulas. On the other hand, I read chess endgames to get into the heads of Chess players, though, honestly, for the most part, the idea when I look at that is to see if that behavior is exhibitted by a system that has a larger thought process.
I suppose that in that larger sense, picking through the forums might be quite helpful.
You aren't following. I'm sorry that you're not following.
A number of posters just seem to go, look at what the other posters say, and agree with it. They think that whatever view is posted the most is what they should agree with.
I'm not saying "Slashdot Editors are Brainwashing Us." I'm just saying, a lot of people just want to go along with the crowd.
You're free to dissagree. Seriously, however, just tell me why Google is evil, and you get a cookie:-D
It's funny to watch Slashdot. A single article said Google is evil, now, reading the posts, according to Slashdot Google is evil.
What was Google guilty of? Raising salaries for software engineers (heaven forbid we should make money comparable to our corporate masters) and draining talent (which just means that people want to work there). Oh, and it's hard to get venture capital because venture capitalists want ideas that can compete with Google. I guess that I'll have to put off getting hired by some lame website that sells toe-nail clippers.
Get a clue. Seriously. Tell me what they are doing that is evil.
These are hacking tools. "Spyware" is a word which is used to refer to software which in addition to its known function covertly transmits information back to the software author. This is nothing of the sort; it's a surveillance tool. It may be immoral or unethical to use this surveillance tool, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to use words like "spyware". Words have meanings.
I hope that you aren't indicating that I was saying "so much shit."
I have quite a bit to back my questions and interest in this problem. I didn't find, however, anything that piqued my interest in the forums on the WinHoldEm website.
From experience, I do not know much about poker, but I do know a bit about artificial intelligence.
This whole conversation has me a bit intrigued, and I am actually considering writing a program to play poker. An associate of mine, I don't remember who was talking about this a while ago.
Given that I could identify every possible hand for the table, and then pattern betting behavior, and correlate that to historical information involving hands. Would such information be valuable in the way that a human player plays the game, or is there something that I am missing about the game?
The long-lived mice in the new experiments tend to be less fertile. And the gene may also predispose people to diabetes. The trick for researchers will be to find ways of getting the life-enhancing results of Klotho while avoiding the drawbacks
You know, I don't see being less fertile as a drawback. If people want to get pregnant these days, they will. Another poster already mentioned a possible population boom.
Don't even think along those lines. What you're saying is "this gene can make you live longer, at as a mild birth control, and help prevent teen pregnancy."
Hrmm, yes. Much easier to sue them isn't it. I mean, Obviously they called Google initially, who were positively intransigent, insisting that the poorly secured pornography be free. In reaction, the poor porn site owners lashed out with this lawsuit, defending the little guy.
Well, I'm blessed to be in a very good situation right now, but it wasn't always like that.
The key is to realize that you drive your own fate. You take responsibility for your life and decide that if things are not as you would have them be, that you will change them for the better.
It's at that point that you have control over your career and your destiny. It may sound like a lame motivational speech, but, honestly, many people never make the connection. They would rather blame their company for being poorly formed (perhaps it is) than themselves for being willing to stay in a lousy job.
This guy may not be as technically skilled as you guys are, but it doesn't sound at all like he is meddling either. You may not be gifted with a wonderful experience, but if the guy isn't actually damaging things, I'd leave well enough alone. You may not be as lucky with the next guy.
Think about it, a bunch of management types, who will invariably hire another management type. Do you really want that to be a management type who is also convinced that his role indicates a level of proficiency that he doesn't have?
I feel like that is what you will get next if you push that issue.
More importantly, it draws attention to the fact that Google has drained the market of talent, caused a 25% to 50% hike in salaries and made it difficult for startups to get funding."
So, now, any company that prevents management from treating their programmers poorly is "evil?"
However, on both fronts, I am using the proprietary drivers. On one front, I paid $300 for a card (included in a notebook), that will have devalued significantly by the time I am able to use all of its features.
Had I purchased an nVidia, it wouldn't have been a problem.
He's right. I have an ATI video card, and it's pure misery.
People will argue it in both directions, but they're just completely incorrect. My 4 year old GeForce works far better under Linux than my brand spanking new Radeon.
I was working for a company that, in general is a pretty nice company to work for. It wasn't the job of my dreams, but it was a good job.
My boss, on the other hand, was a nightmare. Think of the worst boss that you ever had. He would insult me in front of clients and coworkers, yell at me for no reason, and do other things. He credited someone else with my work, getting them employee of the year. One time, in his office, he told me that he had sabotaged my chances at a promotion (someone else, higher up in the company had proposed that I receive the position).
I left and went to grad school. The only effect on me now is the occasional unpleasant memory of the experience.
It really wasn't meant to be interpretted very deeply. It wasn't meant to really be viewed at all in terms of the vegan ideology. I couldn't care less about what people choose to consume, and have several vegan and vegetarian friends.
You, however, chose to read way too much into the matter, and infer that the whole matter was stupid.
I think that you should ease off a bit. I didn't say that vegans were bloodthirsty, misguided, people-hating monsters who like to go to nihilist websites to watch movies of wild dogs eating children, and cheer for the dog.
Please take a moment to step back, and look at how outrageously silly you sounded there. You inserted a lot of ideas into what I said that just weren't there.
RTFA, the British don't call it pool, they call it Billiards!
Right you are.
Though, there are special wireless phones that use IR so they can't be snooped on (we're already talking about facilities with no windows here).
Ahh, all good. Sorry about that :-)

So what is the point of getting IT Certifications? To have a piece of paper?
These questions are easy. Do you have any more?
This is what happens when the war on terror meets the entrepreneurial spirit.
Lets hear it for profitting from death and destruction!
It isn't.
What I was observing the number of posts who essentially just echo whatever Slashdot tells them to say.

Now, just for a cure for diabetes.

You really believe that load of garbage, right?

Just wanted to chime in and agree. I generally bring a stack of printouts to my university library to read.
I have checked out a few books in my time here, but the vast bulk of my reading is pulled out of citeseer or another appropriate resource.
Rail gun.
Actually, it's not that either are unstable.
ATI's just don't do what they supposedly do.
nVidia's are fine.
I totally understand.
However, on both fronts, I am using the proprietary drivers. On one front, I paid $300 for a card (included in a notebook), that will have devalued significantly by the time I am able to use all of its features.

Good pun.
Mod parent up, funny.
