Hrm... It doesn't sound like Adventure. If there is a game like this, I've never seen it. However, it almost sounds like you're getting Adventure and Swordquest confused...

In Adventure, you were a dot. There were three dragons, and a bad. Objects included keys, a sword, a bridge, a magnet, and the holy grai... err... the enchanted chalice.

The Swordquest series (the ones I played) didn't have enemies. You were a little man. There were many rooms with "traps," and lots of odd things to collect.

Also, for those who care, here's a wal-thru to get the easter egg in Adventure. :)

Addendum - I mean only PacMan for the 2600. PacMan on pretty much any other platform is awesome.

Also, Ms. Pacman and Pac Man Jr. for the 2600 were excellent.

Dude. Pacman DOES suck. As for Pitfall... I used to enjoy it as a kid, but these days, I just don't get it. (I also don't get Yars Revenge, which is more than a cult classic.)

However, if you don't think Adventure kicks ass, you're obviously still playing mode 1 or 2. You need to switch to three (the truly random game) and watch the sweat ooze out of your pores. :)

Not necessarily. Do a brief 'net search for Atari 2600 ROMs and you'll find a ZIP file with over 800 games in it. That plus emulator equals serious longevity for the games.

People are still producing Intellivision games, some awesome games for the Atari Lynx handheld and Atari Jaguar, and more!

I agree. The LUG I run, the Linux Users' Group of Davis, has had a number of guest speakers come from abroad to speak, but if you
look at our past meeting listing, you'll notice a lot of our ow members have done talks...

Those talks can often be the most useful. Sure, someone from company X can come and explain their brand new Linux product "Y", but sometimes a talk on kernel compiling, bash scripting, or C programming is a little more real-world. ;)

See if any of your members have topics they'd like to talk about, and then get them to do it! I've talked at my own LUG about The GIMP and the Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) library - two things I consider myself good at.

On the other hand, I've immensely enjoyed the talks we've had on bash and Perl, two things I had almost know experience with, which were talks presented by our own members. :)

(HOWEVER, if any big name is out there reading this, and you'd like to swing by Davis, California to talk at a LUG, let me know! ;) )

even with Java and JavaScript off (which is how
    I prefer to use browsers).

I even tried it using an HTTPS-enabled version of
Lynx while SSH'ed into my ISP and, after tricking Wells Fargo's servers into thinking I was using a particular version of a different model browser (ie, Netscape 4.7 and not Lynx), it seemed to work just fine!

I dunno if I'd do it too often because the site is harder to navigate using Lynx (sigh), but at least it works!
