Nothing is free. Someone is paying for it either way.
The costs either come from your wallet (tuition), your paycheck (taxes), or your savings (gov't debt). One of those is your choice and the other two aren't.
If government stayed entirely out of higher education, it would not cost as much.
If universities were pure capitalism, my state taxes would be reduced by the amount I'm currently paying to subsidize higher education. I could put the funds in a safe interest bearing investment until my children were ready to attend college and then pay in full. In State / Out Of State would be entirely meaningless, and we would be free to choose the university with the best cost/benefit ratio, wherever that may be.
But it's not capitalism.
Everybody who thinks the government will make things better (health care?) should look at this.
when I cancelled my service from Comcast last year they had jacked the rates up to almost $150
You can get it for $100/mo from Comcast but you have to call and play their game every year when your "promotional package" expires. It's actually their business model to make you threaten to cancel every year to keep your rates from going up.
You could just call those the "CNN" and "FOX" versions.
Here's a link to the FOX News article. It says "Small risk to the public". That's paraphrased from the NASA press release that says "Extremely small risk to the public". So I guess that is some spin.
Sounds fine, why not just leave ample space behind the new guy? Because someone else will do the same, and then another, and another.
It's really just those few drivers who feel the need to weave through traffic. They're only in front of you for a few seconds before they're off into the next lane.
That's illegal, of course, but the police aren't enforcing those laws or any of the laws that would actually make driving safer. It's too easy for them to park and radar the fast lane.
The chosen one has had almost a whole term - most of it with no political opposition whatsoever. It's time to accept the fact that he isn't any better than the last president.
I looked through the Comcast adult VOD catalog once and every title was $10 and up! They have got to be joking! How desperate for a porn fix does someone have to be to pay that much?
I'd rather buy oil from the middle east for now. Let them drive gold plated Bentleys and build indoor ski resorts. In a couple of generations, when it's really important, they'll be back in tents and we'll still have energy resources.
"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."
Will they pay more for a Ford, GM or Chrysler? No.
Almost the entire Mercedes fleet fails CAFE. They just pay the fines. A few thousand dollars doesn't matter much for a car people are willing to pay $60k-$120k for.
GM needs to price a similar family sized sedan at $15-$25k to make a sale. That car is going to get a lot smaller now. And nobody is going to buy it.
I buy expensive Vodka cause the cheap stuff makes me gag. I can taste the difference so I imagine it's just as easy for someone to taste the difference in wine.
Expensive vodka has less impurities than cheap stuff. So buy the $5 jug and run it through a Brita filter. I know people who've tried this and say it works!
"The #1 movie in America was called "Ass." And that's all it was for 90 minutes. It won eight Oscars that year, including best screenplay."
Now that every old TV show and comic book has been remade and the Justin Bieber movie done, next will be the Kardashians movie, and then it's time for "Ass" the movie.
Some of my college buddies were nightclub DJs and they had audio processors that would do this. They would also wire all the speakers in mono. The sound was horrible, but at 170dB with enough alcohol, it's impossible to tell the difference. No wonder I have tinnitus now.

Misc Romance or Casual Encounters? Or is there some dark subsection of Farm & Garden that I don't know about?
Thanks for ruining fruit for me.
It's hard enough to drink milk without thinking about where it came from.

That's just enough bandwidth to stream Netflix in SD.
Then it's better than what I get from Comcast for $100/month.
I thought the conflicting specifications was intentional irony.
Programmer Day should be on a different day every year. And the day shouldn't be announced until it's already passed.

There's a PDP11 emulator on the Android Market for $4.
I remember seeing vacuum tube testers at the grocery store. They even sold replacement tubes.
Maybe you're doing too much in a constructor? You could offload anything that can fail into a method that can return a value.
But I do Java/C#, so I'd throw the exception and tell the customer to buy more hardware.
My dad actually told my mom that he didn't want to recarpet the house, but that "if we're still here after 2012, we'll look into it then."
Maybe he was thinking about moving in 2011.
Just take down your mailbox. It's the easiest opt-out ever.
Congress makes laws. But blaming Bush is always good for Karma whoring.

I'm sure one of the utopian countries with socialized medicine will make it work first, since nothing good can come from capitalism.
I'm surprised. 62 comments and you're the first angry atheist trying to troll this into a religion flame war.
Oh, and I read the story first on Fox News. Yeah, those bible thumping tea baggers published it before Slashdot!

Um, impeach for what, moron?

So maybe next week.

Might as well put "Ow my Balls" on TV, too.
