This is good, though. A year ago, the "internet business model" was to give away money. A few months ago, it was to give free things away. A few weeks ago, it was to give free services away.
Pretty soon one of these companies is going to figure out that a company is allowed to make money.

I find it interesting that my government is finally doing something like this. Usually we try to preserve individual rights even if we find them morally disguisting. We have even allowed ownership of child pornography in order to do so. Although I do understand the difference between the two issues, I still find it odd that our government would pass a law like this.
They did not even mention how this would affect cyberstalkers.. usually when one of the mainstream news companies do features like this, they tend to make the average net user look like a freakish pervert..
The increase in bandwidth available to users has made networked games popular.. people can act at the same time, and it not only tests strategy, but reaction time, and ingenuity..
Games that take "turns" are to slow for the average user these days. We all want our cake now, and it pre-chewed for us to mitigate eating time..
The first invention is a method of compressing text stored in binary form, which expresses information as a series of noughts and ones, by comparing each word with its predecessor and recording only the differences between words. This compresses the data to an eighth of its normal size.
Doing this would slow down any computer by to reasonable of a factor for me to even consider it. Why would I buy a product that will waste my cycles as much as this would, rather than buy a conventional hard drive, which will have comprable space by then, for a similar price? (the $50 price tag WILL grow)
geeze, we all know that space is the only natural environment where P4's won't overheat, so i would have thought a P4 would have been their first choice.
So, what is this supposed to do? They can only block out the names of the songs.. If someone wants to, they will just change the name and they won't be able to filter it. They'd have more success if they made jaywalking illegal.. This is not only pointless, it is a waste of time and money.
I DISTINCTLY remember reading reports a year or so ago about Java dying out by 1999. I remember. I won't accept this because it isn't real. You people can bathe in ignorance allll you want, but it won't make it any more real.
OK, they have a few small articles, and they occasionally mention Linux, but we have article after article after article, and even some of us are getting sick of it. I'm not against bashing ms, it is just that it is only self defeating when we become blind to their good side, and ignore it, rather than incorporate it into our own designs.
Being open source, Mozilla will continually improve, and now that it is in the public domain and anyone can try and improve it and understand how it will affect the final product, it will improve quicker than if it were still being developed. I'm sure it has its flaws, but in a year or so, it will kick some serious microsoft ass once again
"MACHINA II/the Friends & Enemies of Modern Music" is the pumpkins' final album, the followup to
"MACHINA/the Machines of God". It is a limited pressing of only 25 (twenty-five) copies on hand-cut,
hand-numbered, non-lacquered acetate (aka vinyl, aka records), consisting of 3 10" EPs and a double 12"
LP, 5 discs & 25 songs total. The 25 copies were given to close friends of the band, a few of whom happen
to be online, and whom were instructed to circulate the new material as quickly as possible, since the band
plans on playing some of the new material on the European tour.
Since there were only 25 copies on vinyl, unless you were one of the lucky 25, you can't get the original
pressing. But since the band instructed some of the recipients to circulate and distribute the material, you will
be able to get copies of it- consider it an "official bootleg". Currently, the only source available is mp3. Since
none of the 3 known online recipients had access to an ultra-high-end audiophile turntable (the tube kind that
cost thousands), one of them used what they had and made mp3s so that the new songs could be distributed
immediately. There are plenty of web/ftp sites and mirrors hosting the new songs, as well as people sharing
files via napster, AIM, etc. Look around a bit, the info has been posted in many places many times.
Virgin was not interested in releasing a followup to Machina, so rather than pack up their gear and go home,
they recorded and released it themselves. It will not and cannot be officially released on CD, as their contract
with Virgin includes a non-compete clause, which prevents them from releasing anything Virgin holds rights to
under another label for 1 year. Since the material was partially recorded while still under the Virgin contract,
they are legally prohibited from releasing it on another label or in any other way.

I read the story, and there is no mention of any helicopter in the whole story. The closest it gets is saying that there will be a kind of submarine in your bloodstream. Maybe people should read the story before posting it.
I honestly thought they got a nano-machine off of the ground. Oh well, that day will come.

It makes you wonder why they don't just title the damn story "vaporware"?
I seriously wonder how this thing would translate a rap song... or any slang for that matter..
The fact of the matter is that most people won't want to spend thousands of dollars to tell people that their "cheese is a watch" or other jibberish..

Would benchmarks under Linux be more accurate than those under Windows? It probalby makes no difference, but my curiousity has peaked..
