That's probably why the Aussies and our V8 Supercars - http://www.v8supercars.com.au - are banning telemetry (amongst many other things, see http://www.motorsm.com/motorsport/auto/AUS_V8_Supe rcar/2005_rules.asp for details.) for the 2005 season.
A broadband service that caps data transfer such as you describe is a rip off.

Research KAKworm sometime (correct me on the name of it people), It's been automatically infecting for at least a year that I know of, with just a preview:)
oooh, those were the days. A mate used to run 4 lines with maximus on Warp 4, and I myself was running 2. Hellishly stable, and a ton of fun. That being said, it was wonderful to be able to see my mate fire up a game of Doom while all 4 lines were active, and not be able to notice any lag at all.
or even worse, a virus that sends your complete info to some irc server, when you put in your pin number...... and the worst case of all, being nuked off the net by a group of ATM's running some sort of Sub7, wouldn't that be embarrasing hehe.
How bout in Australia, where Telstra has the most coverage for ADSL and cable, and Optus only has minor coverage in 3 major cities. Optus is priced pretty well and stable as hell, but Telstra... well, crappo network. Also their pricing has just changed for residential users, Check out these prices for ADSL users.

Damm right. Specially when you can find out that this has occured some 2-3 mins after the 2nd plane hits. #CNN on Dalnet at one stage had 3000 users. Everyone pulling info from wherever they could, and letting everybody know. Big congrats to everyone who provided info in one way or another.
A Roll of Cat5 and Terminators and Tools, $100
A Black skintight suit, $50
Getting into the university and piping your own data link for warez use? PRICELESS!
Pfft. Broadband has been available for a while out here in Aussieland, but how are we supposed to download this stuff if we are limited to 3GB transfers (Uploads AND Downloads mind you) a month and there's no other broadband providers in the area?
nah, over here in Aust, that's classed as being an idiot with too much time on his hands. I'm more a sound freak, and spend mass amounts of time trying to get the best performance and clarity out of the system that I can. Got a couple of shows coming up, to enter it in, I'll see how it sums up against others. BTW, having sound booming out of your car = less sound booming inside the car, so what's the point? Unless you're a mindless idiot that likes everyone to see how big it is. For me, that's a waste of time hehe.
Naw, I'm an aussie, and me and the family spend long hours on the road, usually a trip for us (which we do every couple of months or so), is somewhere around the range of at least 10 hours driving, good for the kids:) So the headunit/dvd player is worth it.
I took it to a new level;) I decided not only did i want to hear the bass from the music while driving down the road, but if I had a movie on I wanted to feel the monstrous sound effects as well.
Accordingly I bought an Alpine Multimedia head unit and Alpine in dash DVD player. Now we can watch The Matrix while cruising down the road:)
People say to me, you're mad, spending $10500 on a car stereo, but what the hell, it's my money, I'm going to enjoy it the way I want to.
Modem users need not apply for the service, however.
That should say Modem Users and Australian Telstra
Broadband users need not apply for the service, as you can't use the amount of data needed if you're on Australian Broadband.
I had to do it LOL.
This is a DIRECT quote from the ADSL FAQ posted by Telstra.
5.5. I am on the Freedom Plan - Why can't I view my usage online ? Unfortunately, the usage meter service is not available to customers on the Freedom plan. This freedom to use the service with no data transference limits, subject to the Acceptable Use Policy, is the reason there is no usage meter with the Freedom Plan service. If you would like to monitor your usage, you may like to make enquiries with a relevant newsgroup. Members of the newsgroup may be able to provide you with suggestions about the type of software available, which is suitable for your needs. Telstra does not recommend one type of monitoring software over another.
Was conveniently written into the AUP and Terms & Conditions that Telstra could at any time change the policies with 30 days notice. I do agree with a limit, what I don't agree with is the amount. I mean, 1/2 an hour of streaming media, 1/2hr of surfing, email, and a debian sid update for the day, and oh no, in an hour and 1/2 or so, i'm already 50mb over my daily usage. 6-10GB would have been feasible but 3GB is just garbage. Also, this is unconfirmed at this stage, I have not been able to get a complete answer, but rumours have pointed me to the 2nd example, 3GB across all 3 users, I have extra users on this ADSL plan, 2 of them, including my primary account, they each cost me $11. I've been madly trying to find out if this limit means 3GB per user, or 3GB across all the users. If it's 3GB across all the users then this service will be gone from my house, 33mb a day is unworkable for an ADSL service.
Geez, it's 91.9 cents a litre here an AU, makes owning a healthy V8 a real challenge, and 99.9% of the time, diesel is dearer here than normal fuel. Used to be cheaper but not anymore, due to rotten government lol, in fact (I'm in Queensland, cheapest state for fuel), it's gone within 3 years from an average of 50c/litre to 90c/litre.
``If people don't find those features compelling enough to upgrade,'' Cullinan said, ``they can keep whatever the heck they want. They're not forced to upgrade.''
Ahhh, if I follow the news right, and read the signs correctly, under the OEM a business (or personal user) cannot use their old Microsoft software on their newly purchased machines, even if those machines have no software installed, the software licence prevents them from installing it(correct me if i'm wrong on this)..... Not forced to upgrade indeed.

Yep, my Intel ICH5 works fine with it.
I have the same card. Use rescbf24 root=/dev/sdXX.
Works fine here.
apt-get remove anonymous-coward :)

Man, you think you've got it bad??????
I've got the acute embarrasment of only living 15mins drive from the IDIOT!
