I guess it depends on your definition of "fraud". Selling a computer that is "crazy loud" and has several things that don't work is pretty close to fraud as far as I'm concerned. It's obvious that they didn't put a lot of effort into this. They're just trying to get them out the door as fast as possible...
What? Sounds like every other PC maker I know of...:)
It's the same old story - the Reality Distortion Field(TM) only works inside Apple's walls. When it tries to spread outward it gets smacked down by Real Reality(TM).
Okay, so it's more of a kids book, but I recommend The I Hate Mathematics! Book by Marylin Burns, and also Math for Smarty Pants by the same author. Martin Gardiner's recreational math books are also quite excellent. The best way to teach yourself math is to actually get interested in it, which the average textbook will not help you with.
Fair warning: I'm now getting a PhD in applied math.
I have used Linux as my primary work OS for 8 years now. I ditched Windows 6 years ago. I find that Emacs+Latex beats Word, GIMP satisfies my raster needs, but despite it's rapid development, Inkscape is not yet there, nevermind Scribus or etc.
I bought Adobe CS3 last week. (Yes, I also have a Macbook.)
Hey, evolution, gravity, and all the electrical engineering that make your computer run are also theories. The question is, is the evidence there or not, and is the danger sufficiently large compared to the probabilities to be cause for worry?
If the Earth's systems are disrupted by climate change to the extent that some scientists are expecting, "100's of millions murdered" may start seeming trivial compared to the combined effects of failed crops and erased land (Denmark, the southeast USA, England,...) due to rising oceans and extreme weather.
So the question to ask is: How many tropical glaciers are advancing or staying the same instead of receding? The report does not say, so it is impossible to draw any global conclusions.
It's easy to bury your head in the sand and go "la la la it's just an anecdote!", but if you actually look around, you will find that the vast majority of glaciers, tropical or not, *are* retreating.
Nice work selectively citing the minority of papers that support your position. Most climate scientists not funded by Big Oil will tell you that we are indeed altering the balance of the Earth.
Oh and, even if you believe global warming is a natural phenomenon, you should still be worried. After all, whatever wiped out the dinosaurs was also a natural phenomenon.
TI-86 are nice. Seriously, forget about any kind of symbolic manipulation or advanced numerical solving. If you have to resort to that sort of thing, either (a) you're not learning what you're supposed to be learning, or (b) you'll want to use real mathematical software, like Mathematica, Maple, Matlab or Octave.
Ditto from this pianist. Tactile feedback is a Good Thing, as is durability and stability under the kind of pounding a keyboard gets from people with actual finger muscles.:)
I wouldn't say film and television uses Apple to suggest "artistic-ness" so much as intelligence and sophistication.
Which of course means that what they should be using are hacked XBOX 360s running Linux...
Er, wouldn't that be suggesting living-in-parents'-basement-ness?

Works in Linux since 2002.
*yawn*
How many people here have in the last couple of years actually tried to type on a Model M?
I will tell you from recent experience that typing on one of these old beasts will slow you down immensly.
Maybe your fingers are weak.
c is merely the maximum speed of light. It is constant in the sense that it is the speed of light in vacuum, all over the universe (we think).
IBM sold their keyboard business to Lexmark, who sold it to Unicomp, who now make brand new Model M's, in Trackpoint and USB varieties.
Comment typed on a vintage 1990 IBM Model M.
They're even available new from Unicomp.
(My Model M was born on March 16, 1990!)

Better check your quarterly financial reports.
This will evidently come as a surprise to you, but the light of the sun is all colors. There's no such thing as "white light".
Funny... whenever I'm fixing boxes for other people, it's the Windows installation that never seems to have all the drivers it needs.
sowing.
*sigh*

The US has a behavioral problem as well, do you think that world consumers should punish the people of the US economically because of it?
Well.... YES.
Why not just figure out a way to turn waste heat into energy...
Because it's impossible.

The third participant in the conversation is usually Carol.

The snow of Mount Kilimanjaro, for one, welcome our new global warming overlords. http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/kilicores.htm

What is it used for?
In fact, yes.
This is stupid. DRM and free competition are fundamentally incompatible.
First they want DRM, now they whine that it's not *their* DRM? Tough luck.
Er, wouldn't that be suggesting living-in-parents'-basement-ness?
