    You figure we can come up with an open-source solution to this problem, or is it only something that the VirtualPC programmers can really pull off?
    I figure you can make it running under linux, however for real performance you need access to the virtual machine to make OPTIMIZED access to the video card. There is a huge performance difference in this. As soon as you run graphics intensive programs (games?) the unsupported drivers will fall behind. SO as soon as 3d accelerated graphics become the standard for user interfaces linux will practically be unsupported. In that case you might as well run BOCH. (did i write that correct?) good emulation, but no performance.

    Then you don't understand the logic of lawyers. Legally spoken they did already produce a truckload of papers. All lelgally correct (even if not true). They found loopholes in the law (or not) that kept /. bus for the last months. It kept them busy for a certain rate as well.

    Ok, you might not like the fact that they going after /.'s favourite OS, but legally it did not do much harm to them, nor as you point out, will it do financially.

    This are the same kind of people who defend muggers, killers, and verything else the law forbids. Does that do harm to them?

    This would be the normal contingary bases
    $3 billion case against IBM, Boies, Schiller & Flexner stand to gain 20% of the fee... or 20% of the etttlement.

    This only proves that one of the tactics of sco was to be bought by some 3 letter company to solve their cash problems.

    atguard (firewall + adblocker + anonymizer) was a great product. Until symantic bought it and it became desupported. It has isses with XP and the adblocker is not up to date.

    Besides a firewall it already had an adblocker. That feature was not in symantic firewall. I am supprised it took them 3 years to include this feature into their product.

    Absence of features is not always a good thing. now you will have to add scripting in the webserver.

    You mean like the unix "x" attribute that was in the very first unix? This is a thing that windows has badly affected. But is this a thing that affects web servers or clients......

    not be a ood advertisement for safety. And generally they are set on well protected servers that are doing nothing.

    no mac web server has ever been rooted,defaced,owned,scanned,exploited, etc.
    I am 100% sure that they get scanned all the time. which makes me doubt all the other points. But then you can always blaim the user.

    That is called hotplugging.
    Don't install components while having sex.
    He is talking about sex with other people, not about watching porn.
    Don't install components while eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
    It is bad for your teeth. But if it drops it will fall on the most dusty place with the butter down.

    Bandwith is limited it seems.

    But it seems to be written by a technial repair man. He doesn't seem to like the failing of the hardware. After repairing a few thousend PC's you should begin to see the humour.

    If they ever release the XP binary you will have to bet that it will be some hight priced version of xp that runs it. Or else you will run into all kind of license problems.

    If it will be a concurrent of The virtual machine solution they bought from connectix This will not be released.

    And if it will work with a standard XP home/pro you will have all kind of activation loopholes like in vmware.

    If it takes a long time to get 2.6.0 stable developers will start to complaint that they are not allowed to make new features. Then there are 2 options: feature creep in the new 2.6 testseries (a new MM 8) ), or start a 2.7 tree. The thirth:

    But you can add header that spoofs that adds a originating ip that is not yours. I know, this is hard and gets done wrong by most spam, but headers can be spoofed.

    Not to mention intercepted and changed messages that are possible.

    There are a lot of people that try to reach it only to be whipped back by the virus after 2 minutes when the PC restart.

    It is very hard to download a antivirus/patch when you are infected.

    windows updated (wup) is getting its beating now!

    1. disconnect PC from network.
    2. Remove MSBLAST.exe from filesystem & registry (see the page of the antivirus producers for exact instuctions)
    3. Patch the PC
    4. Firewall it in case you didnt patch it right.
    5. Save your data at a convienent time (LIKE NOW!)
    6. Reinstall windows because someother virus might be there as well.

    Reinstall windows is the "give up" option
