  1. Intel Bad, IBM Good on Magnetic RAM from IBM · · Score: 1

What's up with that, Taco? I feel that your personal preferences really affect your judgement. If Intel comes up with something new - well, they are doomed, it is vaporware, they'll delay, not deliver, blah-blah-blah.. If it is our big blue friend, wow.. let's congratulate them on the breakthrough, they are so awesome!

Be more reasonable. There used to be not much of a difference company-wise between IBM and Intel.. now they are like bad guy and good guy. :(

There's no such thing as an evil company (hehe.. not even M$), it is just an organization of people good or not very good at something trying to make money. That's it.. It is not the end of the world, they are not trying to make something evil.. I am not talking about drugs or nuclear weapons, just in general. People make money.

  6. This is sooo stupid on Tom's Hardware Retracts P4 Endorsement · · Score: 2

What do you expect? That Intel is going to be perfect? It is a huge company, in any big company there's not only focus on delivering a good product, but there are paychecks, deadlines, taxes, legal issues, unsatisfied customers, lawsuits... Do you expect them to disregard all that and just try to make your life easier by doing miracles and pleasuring everyone?

It is brutal to compare a company like Intel with Mafioso clan. It just shows, that you are a geek that has this gut feeling against anything that's stronger than him and you don't accept that. What the hell is up with that? Grow up. It is a real world, someday you will find a job in an IT industry and will understand, that still the main motivation of any company is to make money, and not to deliver the best product ever. Get real. And as for mafioso, rent (if you don't own) a Godfather I and II. See the difference. Or even better, go to Russia, you'll enjoy it there.

    That was funny:

This seems more user friendly, although a "recently used programs" option would be quite nice, and is a good idea on Microsoft's part, if not a completely original one.

It is a good thing to compare Gnome, KDE, Whistler, but don't forget about Mac's existance. Mac had the idea of Recently Used Applications for a long time. How is it possible, that a person who chooses to compare several GUIs does not know about that?

  9. Future of .NET on Sun's (un)official response to .NET · · Score: 1

I personally agree with the article. I think that M$ is trying to improve their software/services, giving their clan an updated set of tools, so that it could compete with the rest (Java). Yes, VB/VC++ ppl will benefit from this big time, as well as ASP+ sounds really exciting.

But M$ is making a very smart move, they will for sure benefit from, this will get noticed by many big companies which are M$ solution providers. My point is, nothing will change. M$ will continue to have its supporters, it will continue dominate in the personal computer field, it will still be able to compete in Back-End stuff, it will still keep of stealing other people's ideas (C#, ha!), and nothing will change for the next five years.

  11. MP3 in Russia on MP3s In Foreign Countries · · Score: 2

There is a Russian band called "Neschastniy Sluchai" which is really kewl. They got a website, and you can listen/download all their songs for all the alboms in .ra or .mp3 formats. Quality is good as well.

As you can see, some people don't rely that much on the laws, but give you the choice. If I were still living in Russia I would go and buy their alboms, not burn them.

This practice is not uncommon, many famous Russian bands have mp3s available for downloads on their website. There is a great deal of piracy in Russia, if you go and try to buy an albom, there is a 50% chance that that albom is not original. So I guess they just think that giving people the mp3s would not hurt more.

It is true, www.upcdatabase.com does not share its database with anybody, *but*, although there are half million records out there, it does not mean that they are all correct! They are not. In fact, you can add your own record in their database quite easily. So this means that you can't rely on that.

There is not a single company out there that offeres full UPC codes set, only small subsets are available. Now if anyone disagrees, please reply with a fact.
