  1. Dell OptiPlex on Building Quieter Computers · · Score: 1

I'm using Dell desktop, I'm in no ways trying to promote them or anything, but just want to state the fact: until this article I never even once noticed the humming. It is aobut half a meter away from me and I can barely hear the humming. Most of the time I work with my headphones on, but even without them it never bothers me. My desktop at home is another story - that guy is 4 years old and screaming bad.

  4. Re:Don't forget [getting really offtopic] on Would Fonzie Sell You A Lexus? · · Score: 1

Yeah. I especially liked the episode when a snake bit him, and he, in the complete darkness with a flashlight was searching through a nature book trying to find that snake in it... at the end he goes: "Phew.. Good thing it is not posionous.."

  5. Don't forget on Would Fonzie Sell You A Lexus? · · Score: 1

Discovery Channel and Frasier! I can tune in to Discovery anytime and enjoy a view of a snake biting that Australian dude in the nose.. or crocodile trying to bite of his leg.. that's educational and is well worth my hard-earned bucks. :)

  6. Re:This is why I stopped watching TV. on Would Fonzie Sell You A Lexus? · · Score: 1

In the meantime, ads pay for your television viewing.

I thought paying my monthly bill was enough to buy me a right to watch television. Basic cable gives you only some TV-shows and programs. Most of it is crap, you pay CAD$ 40 for it and you still have to watch the ads. What do you think of that?

  7. Getting stuck up there on Scaling Walls With Suction Cups · · Score: 2

I wonder what you start thinking when you get stuck up 5 floors high, with nobody to see you and no battery life... for the whole night!!! That would be almost like this guy from Darwin awards who went flying on the chair.

P.S. My Casio camera sucks batteries even faster than this device.

[Offtopic]Casio's technical support should receive pine-apples up their asses every hour. They are the most incompetent bunch of freaks I know. 24 hours on the phone - result 0%.

Why does it have to be Javascript?? That will be totally server side code, like CGI or JSPs. I think JavaScript's got nothing to do with it.

  11. Electric Pacemaker on Biotech Insects to be Released Into the Wild · · Score: 1

That should put in each moth an electric pacemaker which can be controlled remotelly. This way, when we will see that this new breed is taking over the world and we can't stop 'em, just push a button, and hey, their tiny pacemakers will stop working.. or start pumping blood in the opposite direction, which would make them move back in time.. which will.. oh well, you get my drift.. :)

  12. Lawyer did a crappy job on Student Web-Site Censors Stung for $62,000 · · Score: 1

I 100% agree with your point, my girlfriend's history teacher in high school got beaten several times by his students, and again, they can't do anything about that. What I don't understand, is that they would pay 52 grand for lawyer's services who could not even defend this strong point.

  15. Leap Years == Minor hurdle on 13 Month Calendar? · · Score: 1

Flansburg hasn't figured out how to handle leap years -- yet. But that's only a minor hurdle.

What's up with that??? Do you try to start something on Jan 1, which is like 10 days away, that you haven't yourself figured out? What about leap years?? Oh, nevermind, that's just a minor hurdle. What kind of approach is that?

I admit, the idea is nice, in theory, but think of how much money would be spend on supporting all that, who will rewrite all the software? And that would be another major headache for poor programmers. Damn!

  16. Tokyo people on Eat Less - Live Longer · · Score: 1

Ok, that's a flame of some sort. But don't you guys think that is kind of pointless? Why support Windows?? Why bother?? Linux stuff running on Windows.. oh my God! I can't imagine KDE doing the same thing.

First of all, the existing Windows interface is alright, you can virtualy do anything you can with Gnome, and it does look and run sleeker.

Second, why bother with porting code to Windows platform? What is the intention of this? Who are the possible users? Are those Linux zealots that have to work on Windows (NO WAY!!!) and customize native applications to support Linux shortcuts/commands?

    Now moderate me down.
