Well the fact that there's a samsung logo on the FRONT of the device as well is a bit of a tipoff.

I personally think it's a wonderful advertisement for the Galaxy Tab that Apple is filing such a rediculous suit. It means that they feel that the iPad is threatened. If the Galaxy Tab was not a good tablet they wouldn't have anything to worry about and likely wouldn't have bothered filing suit. Of course I may be totally wrong and maybe Apple just wants to spend tons of money on a lawsuit.

I'm sure there's prior art for this. Then again I'm sure there's prior art for rectangular objects with rounded corners as well so you may very well be onto something here.

  6. Re:oops on IRS Auditing Google · · Score: 1

This is a good point. Even a simple law that states "pay 9% of profit" has to consider the fact that profit is revenue-expense. Then we have to figure out what expense is (and sometimes what revenue is, though generally that's a bit simpler). And that's where the mess of laws that make up the current tax code come into play.

Being audited is not the same as being busted. It means that the IRS has sufficient reason (or rather, an automated program inside the IRS has sufficient reason) to believe that Google may owe more money than they have paid. Innocent until proven guilty applies to audits as well.

Didn't Amazon just have a huge fight with CA to avoid paying internet sales tax? I imagine if it had been illegal they would have lost.

I'd imagine that's the case, if they audit you and find "oh we should have given you an extra $500 two years ago", then the interest comes into play.

This then begs the question, is it then possible to do your tax return in such a way that you get UNDERPAID in the return? Then when you get audited they would owe you money + interest. Though since the possibility of an audit is (semi)random it might not be the greatest way to go about it....

Actually for all I know Facebook might have this kind of an interface, I've just never been able to find it.

As far as I know, if you make a purchase under $25 they don't require a license check. For larger purchases they do. A lot of larger retail chains (Walmart, Office Max, ect) keep the drivers license # on file so that they only ask you for it once (I guess they keep a picture too? or else there's not much point).

Sure, the size also means you can't produce things that are as big as MakerBot can, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for the ease of storage and the portability.
