As was said in a comment above, browsers are moving targets. Even for the HTML5 DOM there are sometimes two different way to access a certain thing depending on which browser. Isn't really hard to work around, but someone would have to constantly be updating the converting tool as new changes come out.
I suspect that the fraction of employers who would welcome such an arrangement is very low
If I'm going to work for someone (especially if they asked me to come work for them) and they aren't willing to let me wrap up my current projects and train up a replacement then I don't want to work for them.
Honestly I'm not sure that's the greatest idea. Sure it could keep us from making stupid mistakes, but it could also lead to abuse of the system. I see this on facebook a lot, where people will post something, someone else will refute them, they'll get into an argument, then one person will just remove all their comments and the second person looks like they're crazy.
Seriously, if you just stuff the phone under the seat (or somewhere less easy to find) how will they know that you even have one on you? Unless they have some sort of tracking device in their squad car, which I wouldn't doubt for modern smartphones.
Heh, I figured it was true when I went into the firehose and saw it duped 10 times. The "news feed" on slashdot has never ever been a place for up to date news. Actually this article has been posted in record time.
Basically, yeah. It would be hard work to prove that you didn't make the comment, unless there's some kind of tracking on the database server as to what user entered the data. I'm sure that FB would fire anyone they caught messing with the user data (well, mostly sure), but the fact remains that someone has access to that database and that someone can do anything they want with that data.

My asshole boss told all my cow-orkers that I was the reason they were not getting raises.
Was he wrong? You don't say if you demanded these raises or not, but regardless I doubt your attitude won you many friends at the workplace.

For those we have the "-1 Troll" ;)
That's a pretty good idea. I've never actually encountered a forum that does this, but I imagine it would work fairly well.
I imagine if he does not patent it and just releases it then OPEC will snap up a patent and prevent anyone from actually producing it.
+1 expert mod maybe?

That's almost half the comments on most articles right there...
I hate to say this, because I know it's probably painfully obvious to most people, but I have no idea what you're talking about.

So in a way the ticket is kinda like bail?
Ahhh ok... Should have read TFA. Thanks.
The satellite went into safety mode and moved from pointing to the earth to pointing to the sun.
Why on earth is this what it does when it goes into safety mode? How is that supposed to help the problem/prevent it from becoming worse?
for a while, I wondered how Star Trek: Deep Space 9 got popular again
That is EXACTLY what I thought when I first heard about them.
He put his SOUL into that product... Literally

Well that's not so hard... Science is easy! (and since I know half the people reading this won't get it, this was meant to be sarcastic)
I imagine at this point both companies have lawyers on the payroll, rather than paying them per-case.
Well you can't eat an iPhone, now can you?
it was sarcasm.... I'm well aware it's not a good policy to hold as far as national defense.
a container that is throw able and will always land upright.
I remember seeing a commercial for a radio controlled monster truck toy that could do this.
Well you know what they say, a good offense is the best defense...
