DTD vs. XML Schema

Suggest you (and anyone else finding W3C XML Schema confusing and/or difficult) take a look at RELAX-NG.
RELAX-NG is an alternative schema language that is much more flexible and easy to use than W3C XML Schema. RELAX-NG also defines a non-XML syntax that makes it even easier to work with, since the non-XML syntax can be translated into XML using a tools such as Trang. There are many other tools that make it easy to work with RELAX-NG.
XSL stylesheets won't work on DTDs because DTDs do not utilize XML syntax.
BTW - DTDs are not obsolete either. They are far easier to read, use, and maintain than W3C XML Schema.
Take a look at RELAX NG. RELAX NG is far more elegant (e.g. easier to learn, use and maintain) than W3C XML Schema. RELAX NG provides the capabilities of W3C XML Schema - and more.
If you enjoyed Akira, you must see Metropolis. It borrows a the look & feel (and some story elements) from the original Fritz Lang classic. This is an amazing film - both for its technical execution (Disney has never looked this good - probably never will) and its story (better than most Hollywood tripe that passes for SF these days).
Why can't we make stuff this good in the USA? Titan AE was close, but still had far too much kiddie stuff in it. Titan AE couldn't seem to make up its mind whether it wanted to be an anime-type film or an edgy kid's film.
My old company had a freeware product specifically designed to do this. Its called 'XMLZip' and can still be downloaded
from XMLSolutions (Windows and Solaris/Linux distros are available). Its written in Java - I think the source
might be available too.
This distribution contains two Java programs for manipulating XMLZip files (gzip compatible).
XMLZip reads an XML file and writes an XMLZip file.
XMLUnzip reads an XMLZip file and writes an XML file.
A large XML file containing the UNSPSC product classification hierarchy is included. It can be used to see the structure
of the XMLZip file, the reduction in size for various level parameters, and so on.
See the readme.txt file for details on how it works.
> When I first say Episode III, back in 1977, (I think), I was 15 years old. Isn't that the audience that N*SYNC appeals to?
Thats fine, but I don't recall the Bee Gees, Bay City Rollers or Abba appearing in Ep III, do you?
Its become clear that ol' George has finally lost it - did he really direct Ep 3?? The SW series began falling apart when the Ewoks showed up. Bring back Kersh asap!
Believe it or not, I actually think this is a good thing. The Feds have no business telling a private company how to conduct its business. Much as I hate Microsoft's OS and apps, the market has decided that it likes them. Sooner or later the market's appetite for bloatware will pass and so will Microsoft.
Slashdot needs to stick to technology reporting and stay away from politics - many of the readers and writers are embarrassingly misinformed. Far too many people are ready to parrot liberal sound bites rather than think and form opinions for themselves. If I want biased reporting I'll watch CNN, CBS or any of the other major networks.
I'm personally more concerned about Bush's plan to grant amnesty/citizenship to the illegal aliens that are currently in the country.
Regardless of Bush's actions, he still (to my knowledge) hasn't embezzled cash, accepted bribes from the Communist Chinese, molested interns or lied under oath.
Its funny how short/selective people's memories are.
I agree. Presentation Notes can sometimes make up for being unable to attend a conference due to client commitments or cost.
As a follow-up, if you are unable to attend a conference that you are truly interested in attending, contact the organizers. Most of them would be happy to ship (or sell) you a CD of the conference proceedings. I've tried this and have had about 70%-75% success.

Eric Van der Vlist is working on a RELAX-NG book that you can read at http://books.xmlschemata.org/relaxng/
Take a look at RELAX-NG - you might never want to work with XML Schema again...
Amen! Mod that boy up, please.

The demos and screenshots for this game were amazing...
Thats why people hate Osama Bin Laden
Wake up, leftist.
People hate Bin Laden because he was behind the largest attack against the US, killing over 3,000 people in less than half an hour.
Go join al-queida if you're so miserable here.
"People" like you make me sick.

Worth reading:
The Victorian Internet: The Remarkable Story of the Telegraph and the Nineteenth Century's On-line Pioneers
Stick to technical news and leave politics out of it.
"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brain."
- Winston Churchill
The only Gillam film that is not really up to par is his first ("Jabberwocky"). All the rest of them are truly visionary.
(Although the Fisher King was a bit wobbly, there are some still some amazing sequences in it..)

No my friend, the point is that Mitnick is a martyr.
The reason he's still in jail is his own -- he waived the right to a speedy trail and fired his lawyers everytime his trial came up.
I'm all for the libertarian-style thinking, but in this case it is unjustified.
Its all in the marketing: 2600 did a great job pushing those bumper stickers....
Hear hear! Nice to hear some logic amid all this "Free Kevin" crap!
Mitnick kept firing his lawyers before his trial date. Can you say "martyr"?
Gee what will 2600 do with all those lovely Free Kevin stickers?
