just about everything else you say is easily proven lies (especially about linux; often merely reading the article that you link to reveals your lies)... pot calling the kettle black much?
you've never justify anything you say... hence why nobody likes you... poor apk can't find bugs or friends, and he sucks at delphi as well (just looking at his interface design stinks of noob)... sucks to be apk
the highest capacity trunk connections will always be fibre-based because wireless signals just can't compete serially, and parallel signals would require much larger satellites which compound their cost (and risk)
believe it or not i'm actually a space enthusiast myself, but when i was studying i learned some very harsh realities about the economics, politics and legalities of space, and the reality is that commercial and government space programs have no future. the only reason why the space race even occurred was because of military objectives, so if you want to go to the moon again you need to start another cold war with the russians (or maybe chinese).
i think non-profit co-operation (supported financially by subsidiaries that are sort of like ordinary profitable businesses except that their "profit" goes towards funding the R&D of the owner non-profit). i've spent a few years looking into this stuff and i think it is possible, and a mass marketing approach to leverage consumer sentiment support for a non-profit could potentially make it bigger than any corporation today. there are a lot of things that would need to be in place to prevent the same issues as any corporation or government agency, and i think one of the most important is equal salary for all employees; this will turn off a lot of people, which is a good thing because it will make those who really want to become involved for more honorable reasons easier to find.
the reference to alcohol was more of a joke, implying that without alcohol worker morale and productivity would drop because there isn't much else going on in the world to keep our spirits up (no pun intended). thank goodness for kids, which are about the only inspiration left in the world.
if all space infrastructure were all of a sudden disabled it would be inconvenient for many, but "the economy" has a little more resilience than you give it credit for
everyone likes to think the industry they work in is important, but unfortunately NASA has been battling to justify its budget for a long time now, and its because its full of all the things that makes progress difficult. the following article describes:
http://www.jerrypournelle.com/reports/jerryp/gettospace.html
many of the things you list are nice, but they aren't critical for the economy... in fact other than communication relay and possibly gps to some extent, they are all supurfluous as far as the economy is concerned... most companies and consumers don't stop their selling and buying if they don't know the weather, and while nuclear proliferation may seem important to the pentagon, the corporate world and the consuming public don't really give a rats
satellites are a great communication medium, but they aren't the only (they aren't even the best)
you know what would destroy the economy if it were to suddenly disappear?...alcohol
how many organisations actually communicate using microsoft word documents or excel spreadsheets?
customers don't usually give a shit about the how (ie formulas in spreadsheets and formatting in word)
if you're not using a portable format like PDF you can't be sure how your document will appear to your customer regardless... for example: you send a.docx and your customer uses Word 2000... they won't be able to open your document AT ALL let alone worry about formatting... at least if you send an ODF you can provide a link to a free program to open and print or edit as required. i know there is probably a free reader for docx, but you can't edit, and if you need to send the original document because a PDF won't do it kind of implies that editing by the recipient is required
the kind of arguments you are making are typical of the corporate world, which is why things don't advance much, but luckily there is at least some inertia building towards open standards like ODF, which will eventually drag corporate cavemen like you into the 21st century kicking and screaming:)
i merely used similar "terminology" as the post i was replying to... so if you think i had a "shit fit", you're admitting you had one before me
but i don't blame you because it must suck being wrong all the time and not even being able to find a simple python bug (even when its pointed out to you numerous times)
this MUST be APK, because yet again you didn't read the story if you're trying to take a poke at apache... the story doesn't actually mention anything about apache being the cause of cracks/hacks... but does specifically mention PHP being a prime suspect
the company is either barely staying afloat or it has a management problem
wow you just neatly summarized the majority of the corporate world
just because you see higher profits in the news doesn't mean a company is doing well, it just means that if they don't increase profits their shareholders run scared and the value of the company plummets
and every single small to medium enterprise is barely staying afloat... otherwise they would be bigger
The big problems with Linux are 1) 'which Linux'? and 2) Does it make sense to spend millions of dollars of development and support time on yet another OS?
answer to the first isn't even a question that consumers ask... it depends on what OEMs install
do you hear smartphone buyers asking about which linux is installed on their samsung galaxy s3?
answer to the second depends on the market i guess... if autodesk thought they could make a return on their investment by porting their products to linux they would be stupid not to. it's not as if they would have to completely redevelop their products. there is also potential to open up new markets with linux... example (however unlikely to actually happen) would be if autodesk partnered with dell and canonical to market cad workstations with linux and autocad/inventor. hell they could even fill them up with the usual bloated crapware typical of new oem windows boxes to reduce the price. as long as autodesk didn't charge noticeably more more linux versions i reckon companies would definitely go for it en mass to avoid windows 8.
slashdot doesn't "mess up code pastes" you fucking toolbag.
it doesn't put indents in. you have to do that yourself, and you fucked up by missing one... and then bragged about how your code was "bug free" hahahahaha what a douche
last time i checked delphi wasn't primarily for web programming, but i guess you're a noob when it comes to delphi as well so what more can i expect from such a noob as yourself
95% of day-to-day computing for Windows is either playing freecell or masturbating under the desk... Linux users can do both just as well so the op is just full of shit:)
and why do i need to prove my professional status again? just because someone asked... pfft riiiiiight. i can indicate my professional status, and you can choose to believe it or not. i don't give a shit either way. i didn't post my professional status to prove anything, merely to make a statement that i don't play minecraft despite a previous post indicating its supposed popularity.... maybe if you actually read through the whole thread you might take it in its intended context... wait a minute this is APK we're talking about, who doesn't even understand the difference between "don't" and "can't"... expecting him to understand anything is a lost cause.
slashdot doesn't indent code. the bug was your own. nice try dipshit... "wah it was slashdot's fault because it didn't automagically fix my indenting fuck ups like i expected it to wah"... try again noob
you appear to have difficulty comprehending basic english... maybe you should actually look up "don't" and "can't" in the dictionary
as i said before (not that i expect it to sink in any more than the last time i said it) but just because i don't program c doesn't mean i can't... i can program c if i need to. i just don't need to
slashdot didn't forget to put that missing indent in... slashdot doesn't automagically indent code for you
the error was your own... you forgot to include the required indent for bug-free posted python code
the fact that it has taken you so long to actually look at your code and realize (even after numerous attempts to point it out to you) confirms how much of an arrogant noob you are
just don't expect me to debug all your code or i'll have to start charging by the hour:)
caught in your lies
no, actually i was telling the truth

learn to read you fucking twit
this merely proves that IE10 is shit.
the apache patch in this story wasn't anything to do with fixing apache
you might have figured this out if you'd actually read the story, but then again if you're anything like APK you probably can't read very well
my foot keeps the beard out of the way while i'm munching away on my toe jam
you need to get out more then

Seems like an incompetent admin could make any software run like crap.
completely miss the point and change the subject much?

you're an idiot. nothing more

you prove you're a noob... over and over again
exchange, asp, access databases... not to mention software that only runs on windows (thanks very fucking much adobe and autodesk)... etc
most software for linux is GPL'd FOSS (except for blob drivers from nvidia etc) and so can be (and often is) readily compiled for many platforms
apparently you're not familiar with the concept of "vendor lock-in"
