    The dealers don't want people coming to their stores and test-driving cars only to lose the sales to some tax-free Internet site. A valid issue, except I don't think there are any Tesla dealerships that would lose out this way. I expect the Tesla dealerships are owned by....Tesla.
    The justification seems even worse on things like motorcycles since I don't think people even test drive those.

    It directly hits the people most vulnerable. And proposing this at a time when gas has never been more expensive is ludicrous. Maybe instead of buying 50 new submarines this year, they should spend the money on roads instead.

    Hey, I have an idea: If you are going to tax gas (state, federal) then let us deduct it from our income taxes. We should not have to pay income tax on it if we paid it in taxes right? Right!!?

    4 wheels is a car. Cars have a metric shit-load of regulations associated with production, testing, warranty. Many of these are specific barriers to entry to prevent new car companies from entering the market.
    2 wheels allows them to avoid all that and build something that is ultra-light and efficient and can be brought to market. Bravo for them.

    I would be interested in what the voter/incumbent ratio is in those other democracies. I would be interested in their taxation model, and their services model. I would be interested if their leaders are directly elected or elector-elected. Obviously your two Senators cannot do everything that needs to get done, so are they going to appoint people to handle the local details? We would end up with massive cronyism with 6 years to wait to get rid of them...if we could.

    I think the local governments are incompetent and poor because the lions share of the tax money is going to the Federal government. We could afford and feel entitled to the best people in our local governments if they were the ones controlling the dispersment of tax revenues. Last I heard, the pentagon could not account for a trillion dollars. Thats a lot of schools, hospitals, roads, and jobs that were lost.

    I cannot vote for the guys that run the House Committee on this or the Senate Leader on that unless they came from my State.

    So if we centralize all the power in the Federal government, we are basically ceding all of our ability to vote for our interests.

    Like forcing IPv4 to stay in country only. If you want to go to a server in another country, you have to get there via IPv6.

    Or give each country a IPv4 address range, but certain addresses are reserved for international servers. Multiple IPv4 networks that overlap on addresses that are outside the country.

    Why should the taxpayer foot the bill for helping a private organization decide who -won't- run in the general election. All it does is reduce the number of options for the voter. They should ALL be running in the general election. Let them debate it out and fight it out.

    Primaries don't benefit anybody except the incumbents.

    Everybody has a website these days. Just let us pick the regions where we will allow transactions to take place. If we are going on vacation, we can light up Russia or Antartica. Then we can turn it off again as soon as we get back. Seems like it would take very little effort on their part to setup.

    I think we need to have stations where you drive your electric vehicle into the station and it gets linked in a line to a tugboat device that pulls it into the city. Then you are separated and can go park your vehicle. The battery you need is only to go from station to destination.
    The tugboats could run on dedicated roads. The tugboat could even charge you through the link.

    If the fuel is producing more energy, then I should be using less of it for a given amount of work. Provided that I am burning it completely. I should get higher mileage with high octane though probably not enough to justify the extra expense.

    I don't think any of the parties involved should benefit from punitive measures. Let it go to a non-involved party. A charity or a independent body that does safety checks.
    Neither individuals or the state should benefit from a punishment, because it taints the motive for the punishment. Was it punishment for profit?
