    Sitting in front of a CRT all day playing games does wonders for your eyes. Those l33t visual skills aren't going to help when you can't see more than 10 feet in front of you. You're better off playing with yourself, at least going blind that way is an urban legend.

    TEh only time i have ever heard of the two networks being connected was a seinor chief plugged two lan cards into one computer, just messing around. Caught unholy hell for it, luckily he was the sharpest guy with the most experience in the office

    Sounds like another case of "military intelligence".

    - There are 4 pumps in the Puget sound area
    - If I can't get a hold of biodiesel, I can just put regular diesel in the pump, with no problems

    All the biodiesel stations must be regular diesel stations too, cause I swear we've only got about 4 diesel pumps in the puget sound area. Finding a diesel pump in the Seattle area is like trying to find a date for Janet Reno.

    I believe he was joking about having 99 different coins. An ideal solution would be to have 100 different coins, and include a zero or "null" coin. Therefore the protocol for every transaction could expect a coin.

    the other day I was playing nethack at work, thinking that if I'm going to play a game it ought to be one without fancy graphics or anything too out of the ordinary from typical unix like work.
    A couple minutes later the boss walks by my desk, drops his jaw in amazement and says, "Is that Rogue???" He was fairly impressed having not seen the game in years and asked for a copy of the source code.

    Anyone with a desktop and a laptop they want to maintain in sync definetely needs Unison. This is one of the coolest tools I found after I picked up a laptop.

    Humor? It's pure FUD and it doesn't add anything to the content. I don't mind a bit of opinionated journalism but this type of unsubstantiated comment is unwarranted.

    The main problem with the Model T is that today's kids can't appreciate or relate to it. I'd suggest a couple Model T owners make minor efforts to get a new generation interested in the Model T.

    Mainly, rice it up. Adding a big boat spoiler to a Model T would do wonders for appealing to a younger generation. And wouldn't we all like to see a lowered Model T, or some kick ass hydraulics -- you could call it a Model humpTee! Don't forget the boomin 18" woofers, or a fresh set of wide-ass wheels.

    Does the PCI bus even have enough bandwidth for this kind of video card to make a difference, though?

    When I upgraded from a GeForce2 MX to a GeForce4 MX I tried to grab some benchmarks:

    test geforce2 geforce4
    --------
    xengine 237-238 rpm 60xxxx rpm
    gears -fps 39-45 fps 45 solid
    gears -fps -delay 1 83 fps 90 solid
    gears -fps -delay 0 120-160 fps 300-500

    so yeah, it makes a difference. Return to Castle Wolfenstein seemed a bit snappier with the GeForce4 than the 2, but I didn't benchmark that.

    Thanks for the update! I've been waiting ages for a video card that will play Nethack at 10,000fps! Who cares about 3-D games when you can go dungeon hacking?

    To put it in Nethack terms, think of it as an "uncursed +1 card of videoing"...
