I'd hate to say it, even though I think copyright is too long now, going after people who do zero day releases is within reasonable copyright time.
Copyright act of 1790 set the limits to 14 years, then another 14 if the author was still alive. I'm not sure how to read the penalties, since I'm not a lawyer from the late 18th century.
It's amazing how corrupt Hollywood is, they went back to 1787 to bribe the founding fathers to include copyright in the constitution.
It's not just that Kim Dotcom pirated materials, it's that he knowingly did it and took huge sacks of cash in advertising revenue from the worst scumbags in online advertising.
It's not just piracy, piracy is a major issue, but the even bigger issue is the racketeering(Hint: Doing something illegal and making a LOT of money off of it is REALLY illegal). Megaupload wasn't just serving up files, it was implicitly advertising itself as a piracy haven.
Kim Dotcom can kiss my ass.
"Your honor, we find the defendant INCREDIBLY guilty."
If the hardware can do on chip decoding of content at the same resolution as the native resolution of the panel, and most other changes are software, then why would I need to upgrade the hardware?
Having it feel snappy and nice to use is a software problem
If space is a premium like it is in New York or other urban areas, a smart tv isn't bad value. Plus it frees up an HDMI socket. maybe Facebook integration is overboard but hulu and Netflix aren't going away for awhile. Neither is Plex or DLNA or Spotify or...
As an aside, what I really want from a smart tv is much smarter UI. I don't think I've seen a smart tv with a decent UI. Something that makes it easy to switch the inputs, change settings, etc. also implements CEC so I can turn on my consoles or whatever and have it control a receiver with one remote.
For Android, I'm shocked this isn't part of the install process. Either done server side and cached(Compile once, then cache the stored binary) or done on the phone. If compilation fails for the target, the app dev is notified and made unavailable for those on that platform.
I think this is because US T-mobile and Deusche Telekom T Mobile aren't really the same company anymore aside from the matching Logos and GSM frequencies.
because saying, "Mitch McConnell/Barack Obama/Nancy Pelosi/Cliven Bundy/Tom Hanks is a cancer on our country and must be stopped by any means necessary" from someone who has the ability and influence to convince other people to possibly shoot said persons IS illegal. It's incitement to violence.
However, being able to mechanically determine, "Obama should be dragged out to the street and shot" and "I have an AK-47 and want to kill Obama" aren't equal would go a long way to helping an agency that has a pretty big workload to begin with.
Technically, showing up with heavily armed militia men who had the strong desire to fire back sure as shit helped Cliven Bundy.
But given that Cliven Bundy is a huge fraud, it's why we need to have vigilance with the Second Amendment and maybe either repeal it or amend it or work around it.
If I called Satoshi Nakamoto a slope, a slant, a gook or a chink I'd get thrown out of a conference pretty quickly. If I called Miguel de icaza a wetback spic beaner. I'd be thrown out. If I start stalking a woman at a conference I would probably not get thrown out.
Since Swift plays nicely with LLVM's runtime, I can't imagine that Objective C will be deprecated. Carbon vs Cocoa or PPC vs Intel etc required one or the other. Unless Swift exclusive APIs become a thing...
Because the problem with Windows 8 isn't the Flatness of the UI, it's how Metro(or modern or whatever) tries to shove a fullscreen only mentality on top of keyboard and mouse UIs.
I don't think that Metro was a bad idea, I just think it was ham handed in execution. I think Apple does full screen apps in a great way. If you want it full screen with no other chrome, then click the little arrows on the top of the screen and get a full screen app.
It's handy when you want to be isolated and hunker down on something. Whether its a game, browsing or doing Real Work.
I can't recall the last time I told anyone any of that. I also can't recall the first time. That's because I can recall all the times, and the count is ZERO.
...and? "I don't do it so it doesn't exist?"
I want to make sure I am VERY clearly understanding this statement.
The problem isn't that all nerds are psychotic stalkers or super gross creepy dudes, it's that as a sub culture, we let those people thrive.
By letting them amongst our ranks, and by letting them know it's OK to cyberstalk someone or that hey it's ok, she was a bitch anyway or any number of inhuman and gross misogynistic streaks in our culture, we are defined by them now.
Physical keyboard is more akin to a standard transmission. In theory more powerful and flexible, but for a lot of regular people, just kind of gets in the way.
Soft keyboards have gotten good enough I just stopped caring.
Not just that, but of the crappy, scummy things ISPs do, this is one I support. Not having their service be a source of spam is sort of in their interests.

Part of the piracy problem on the psp was that the memory card and file system were exposed. Installing pirated games was a snap.
It doesn't surprise me that Sony developed a system proprietary storage mechanism. Granted, the 3DS uses sd cards no problem...

I'm hurt that I'm not considered enough of an apple fanboy to merit mention. :(

if i want to do
var [poop pile] = 4;
then by god i should be allowed to
I think it has more to do with Beats Music and Iovine being a god among Hollywood insiders.
Beats headphones probably means the pack in earbuds change at some level.
PECL has an OpenGL library, still doesn't mean it's a good idea.

go duck yourself.
(Yes; this is a joke. at no point ever have i ever meant "that ducking rat bastard.")
I understand the nuttiness of ternary operators being nutty, but who the hell is doing math with INF and -INF?
If you're doing complex math with PHP you're doing something horribly wrong.

Net books have core i3/5/7 chips?
I thought net books ran on Atom
