The whole thing about making it difficult for used games to be used on the next Xbox is so evil it's almost mustache twirling evil. I don't think MS has the stones.
Er, Microsoft's next console hasn't been announced with anything yet. How about you calm down a little first before bashing companies who might be completely innocent?
This entire article makes me want to grab the Pepto Bismol. I've felt sympathy for Microsoft and GameStop.
Not in this case, this isn't about big media trying to make money. It's about NBC News trying to distance itself from a shitty ad by the Mitt Romney campaign.
OTOH, the SOB i really feel sorry for is Romney. I mean, in under 30 seconds, a quick recap of a bad day he had in the 90's bites him in the ass in ways I couldn't imagine.
I think that it's a pretty good article. I think 8 to 12 year range is kind of too narrow and it wasn't a longitudinal study, so we don't get the clear big picture here. It's been mentioned here that social skills are changing overall. Yet, we're still bound by human intuition in terms of how to interact socially(Whether or not they're intrinsic to humanity or not; that's another point. They're certainly nearly universal). These kids are still going to need to get jobs, meet people who aren't geeks etc.
There's an awesome quote that made the apple fanboy part of me die laughing.
FaceTime and Skype are not replacements for actual face time
There's the non gamer market that didn't buy games beyond what was packed in with the console. The attach rate for the Wii isn't that bad, it's actually way better than the 360's. I was working on some faulty preconceptions.
But ultimately my point was that what's important to the Wii U is what's ultimately important. Games.
Nintendo needs the U _now_ and they need it to be ~25% more powerful than current generation gaming consoles.
They need the Wii U now and they don't need it to be really any more powerful. I mean it'll make sense to make it more powerful, but does it *need* to be more powerful?
They need games. Bad. The problem with the Wii was that everyone's grandma bought one for Wii sports and never picked up another wii title after that.
I think that more powerful hardware will lead to more developers signing up, but, keep focus on what's actually important here.
Yeah but you sort of need money to stay in the business of making stuff. Sitting on razor thin margins means that you're going to make a lot of sacrifices just to stay in business.
Eventually there's going to be a story about IPv4 address space going scarce again. When that happens what copypaste drivel are you going to paste? Or are you willing to risk being on topic for once?
Then again, lots of good rumors have come up empty handed in the past too.
But if you look at the nature of the business around the rumor, the announcement of the ipad3 being around the time of Jobs' birthday would just be moving things around a little. the iPads 1 and 2 got released in this time frame.
Justice department rules concerning ethics?
no system's perfect, yes, but, electing judges is kind of stupid and wacky.
There's still legislative action to censure inappropriate behavior. The federal judicial system works like this.
Judges shouldn't be accountable to anything but the law.
Which is why making judges an elected position is such a shitty idea.
Who came up with this ass backwards concept?
Yeah I know.
The whole thing about making it difficult for used games to be used on the next Xbox is so evil it's almost mustache twirling evil. I don't think MS has the stones.
MGS is a series I will always hammer on as having real context to the violent actions you do on screen.
In MGS4, I often felt bad for shooting PMC soldiers in the groin.
Granted I still did it and often, but...
err yeah.
Oops.
Well fuck him, and fuck Microsoft with their 720.

The statement is even stupider when you consider they don't have to support the guy who bought the game in the first place.
Granted, PC sales are a little weirder because yeah, the installed copy might still be there. BUT...

1998
Slashdot started in September of 1997...
Slashdot started global warming.
Seriously though, it takes a lot of balls not to say something's up. Last year, around this time, NYC was covered in snow.
Now? I can walk outside with out a jacket. Something is seriously fucked here.

Games.
Also an HDMI socket would be nice too.

err you do realize this is just WILD speculation right?
No, in Feudal England they at least had Boxing Day. Which sounds suspect in Ron Paul's John Birch Society utopia.
Eventually there's going to be a story about IPv4 address space going scarce again. When that happens what copypaste drivel are you going to paste? Or are you willing to risk being on topic for once?
it's funny.
laugh.
Because the alternative is crying when you realize that other privacy policies are just as bad with out the veneer of satire.
Also, the psychics and aliens thing was supposed to go on Idle. And it was updated to be on idle. Unknown Lamer even posted in the thread about it.
I know I bit earlier when this came up, but, can we get some better copy/pasta trolling?
I miss the Golden Girls and on a very strange level, goatse.
That'd explain how they got Senators and Representatives to drop their support of SOPA/PIPA.
You think it was because of direct grass roots actions?
...so?
that's more sad than it is good news. I love iOS, but, somehow Google can't make a phone that half of it's users dislike?
Competition is good is only an axiom that works when all competitors are competent.
I invented rain. IN fact I took a patent out on it.
I'd go after the Mac first just to win that over a Sony.
Living the dream. Owning apple and sony products with out giving them a single dime!
It's a good rumor with lots of good sources.

Other than Samsung, who's actually making growth in this industry? RIM and Nokia aren't. HTC isn't, Moto isn't.
Unless you're able to vertically integrate like Samsung does, having a huge smattering of devices isn't particularly healthy.
