Managers and Executives are exactly what cause the problems in the first place. Does anyone really thing that the programmers want to release an absolutely horrible abortion like Vista and try to sell it as a step up from XP? No that's the executives and Marketing department. The problem with corporate america is executives and middle managers.
Yeah, but at that point I'm wasting my time waiting around for some thing that could have been easily prevented if the user would have just followed my recommendation, or if my idiot mother in law would not have jammed that DVD between the two disc drives instead of putting it in the fucking tray. The point is not that it costs me to fix people computers, the point is that it wastes my time so in essence people are saying that my time is worthless or at any rate worth less than theirs and that, my friend, gets tiring after a while.
I got a degree from one of these schools. Not so much because I needed the knowledge, but more because I needed the piece of paper that said I had it. The schooling was nearly useless and luckily I got a gov't grant to go otherwise I would have walked out within the first 2 weeks and demanded a full refund plus compensation for my time. I have a great job now, not because of my mickey mouse degree but because of my own personally accumulated knowledge. When I look back at the a lot of the people I went to school with and graduated with, I'm pretty ashamed. Some of the people that were passed through that system could probably not tell the difference between and ethernet cable and a phone cord and still have a degree that in theory puts them on par with me. For profit schools are nothing more than diploma factories, but when you have HR people that don't know dick about the jobs they are hiring people for the diploma mills win.
The long and the short is that the real problem with this situation is the business climate where business major idiots are running the IT departments instead of IT professionals.

I worked at a memory company who's name rhymes with Licron for over 10 years and about 8 years ago we were working on something similar to this. It was basically high speed NOR flash memory, but the project didn't get much traction in lieu of ramping up on DDRDRAM and Rambus DRAM memory production. Given the fact that DRAM production is an almost completely money losing venture you'd think memory companies like Infineon, Hynix, and Samsung would be pushing this technology a bit more aggressively.
Agreed, that's like getting after adobe because someone used their Acrobat X to write a ransom letter or published a snuff film in.FLV format. If the users are violating the ToS then the company has a right to suspend service, but I don't think it is their responsibility to guess at it's users intent before they have actively violated the ToS.

But some teachers do require attendance and usually those are the ones where missing a class or two would not be a problem. I used my laptop to take all of my notes in college and when the subject was not relevant to me or did not hold my attention I directed my attention elsewhere with my laptop so as not to distract other with my boredom. My son uses an Alpha type in his classes to help him take notes because he has issues with his handwriting and I think a laptop would be a fine replacement for that.
Quick example of shocking and possibly unlawful activity: The copyright reform in Spain was made by the RIAA and was almost passed by pressure from the USA government. And not only that, but the fact that Wikileaks published that, helped the congress reject a law made specifically to damage the spanish citizens.
That alone is incredibly valuable, I do not live in Spain, but I would be terribly pissed off if some other country putted pressure to pass laws that benefit them.
Getting public money in the form of tax rebates is not nearly the same as drawing a check from the public dime. Primarily because the tax rebates or refunds that most people receive are a refund of the money they paid in the first place.
This was my first thought upon reading this article as well. I think the prosecutor is motivated by something other than the defense of the legal status quo.
