The fact remains that a lot of high tech manufacturing and R&D goes on in israel whether or not the tech originated there (which as you aptly pointed out it doesn't) the manufacturing money and R&D dollars get spent there.
Because the restoration of the Jewish state of Israel is a prerequisite for the biblical apocalypse. And propping up Israel plays into the fevered dreams of the omnicidal fundamentalist christian death cult that makes up a significant majority of the the American voting public.
I worked in a semiconductor fab for a long time and we used AMAT SEM machines that were manufactured in israel. The direct factory reps were all israeli as well. A lot of people think of israel as this war-torn middle east wasteland but that's just not the case. It's a very wealthy and prosperous country, even if they are expanding and displacing the native populace. They are bringing a lot of non-oil money into the region.
Bringing in Frank Miller to redo Batman was a phenomenal success for a geed reason. It brought in a new perspective with new art and a darker look. They don't have to start with a clean slate. To me this reeks of a disconnected corporate decision.
Bandaid as another example. One could reasonably argue that the term "app store" is already pretty generic. I was calling my applications "apps" in the production environment of a company I worked for about 6 years ago. Every mobile device on the planet now has an online market or "store" through which you can buy or download applications or "apps."
Funny, I just replaced the memory in my HP laptop. I can also burn a DVD and replace the battery without having to take off the keyboard. The power adapter was loose so I soldered it back down too. Cost me only the price of the memory to do the upgrade too.
The spelling error is intentional. Oddly enough the developers in my shop don't like macs either because of the closed standards, DRM, and general asshatery of mac software and users. Mightily demonstrated by you trying to correct someone's name. I'll admit that I know some graphic designers that use macs and some that use windows as well. Saying your mac "just works" is like saying that "Jesus just came back to life" thus giving further veracity to TFA. The point is using something without understanding how it works, then becoming zealous about it.
I've always said that Macs are for people that don't understand computers and have too much money. Dells are for people who don't understand computers and don't have any money.
Mac users not understanding computing is a little bit of a misnomer though, some of them understand computing, but many do not know shit about hardware. They spend so much time with the "it just works" mantra that they totally ignore the whole part about educating yourself when their shiny stops just working. If any single piece of hardware in my machine breaks, I can find a part to fix it myself on the web within 5 minutes and have it done in a matter of days for 200% less the cost of taking my whole system into a mac "genius" to try and figure out why their fancy doorstop has stopped just working.
The issue is whether Google profited off of illegal drug sales which they did not since the drugs were sold in Canada where they are perfectly legal. It's not like Google was running ads for a heroine trafficker, it was running ads for online Canadian pharmacies which can sell certain drugs free of prescription for significantly less than their American counterpart are selling them for. The companies themselves violated no laws in their own countries. Why don't you google "California Dispensary" and see what you come up with. Now google is accepting advertising money for that and should they be charged with a crime? As the first comment stated, "this is about Big Pharma vs. YOU" not really about selling crack, heroine, or even opiates. It's about grandma being able to afford her liver pills on a fixed income and an ever shrinking medicare subsidy.
This was more than just a run of the mill "Our servers accidentally imploded" downtime also, this was blatant negligence on the part of Sony. It's one thing when a WoW baby cries because the servers are down for extended maintenance, this was criminal negligence on Sony's part in failing to provide adequate protection for their users data thus violating their own EULA, so some recompense should be more than just a bit obligatory.
Exactly. Why waste your time on more optical media when the next wave of digital(hulu, netflix, etc...) and solid state media(I can watch movies from a thumb drive on my TV) are either already here
In many cases, IT budgets are too constrained and IT staff are too busy to try and make sure every user with an iPhone can feel cool by thinking they are doing work related business. Apple software is not the easiest to integrate into an enterprise not already centered around it. In my companies case, it is just easier to say "we don't support your fancy smartphone" than to break our backs trying to help people who can barely figure out how to use their outlook calendar, to integrate it with their new blackberry.
Being a good IT manager is looking at your available resources and making the proper decision as to whether something can or cannot be supported, based on the available time and money, not just kowtowing to every users whim.
To be fair, we haven't been trying to spread democracy in the middle east until W. used it as an excuse for his holy war. Our foreign policy has been mostly based on keeping a dictator we like in power and giving him as many guns, tanks, and jets that his poor country could afford with oil wealth. When they started to get a little sassy with us like Saddam or the Ayatollah did then we worked covertly and overtly to subvert their regimes.
Hey now he can use his new IPad2 to track his dialysis appointments.

At what point does one move from sleeping with the enemy to actually one of being them?

There fixed that for you.

Are you suggesting they embiggen the cromulentness of their storage standards?

Seems perfectly cromulent to me.

That seems like the way the net is moving for a lot of these sites.
epically inept word suggestions from my T9 phone, this will produce some awesomely funny posts.
..does being taunted for being jewish qualify you as being a geek? I know more than a few jewish individuals that are not geeks, more just nebbish.
That seems to be more in line with our bought and paid for legal system, especially in Utah of all places
..for free speech. I completely shocked that this came out of Utah.
So does Sony now qualify for a massive government bailout and DOD level network securing?
Not really evil, his coin tosses just turn out to be opposite of the other universe. Also Zoidberg is blue.
How do you figure they only control one of the two parties? In all reality, they control both parties and all 3 branches.
