"The fact is, these people play by their own rules (no rules at all). As long as the "good guys" insist on dealing with them on the ethical high road, the problem will never go away."
The same argument could be made about the police and the anti-terrorists. I don't know about you, but I prefer that they have to follow rules.
"so why are so many American dumb enough to think that the government magically finds money and that the hundreds of billions or even trillions a year needed for "free" health care won't be paid for with tax dollars?"
Not so dumb. The government magically found $810 billons just now...
What about free software in this context? If you lose money because of a bug in the Linux kernel you send a bill to all the contributors? Or you put a low that only registered distributors can distribute software? And if you changed
one line in an open source app and recompiled it , who is responsible now?
No that is really really really bad, you now have free Linux and pay Linux. The free Linux will bw see as crippleware and 10 years down half of a Linux system will be closed source paid apps with shinny DRM. This is a dangerous precedent.
1- Put title of the cd in the box carved in a rock 2- Apply for a copyright on your CD. 3- Upload it to piratebay. 4- Wait 25 years. 5- Open the Box 6- Do a search on Internet3 superWeb 12.5 for the title. 7- Download it with tetrabytetorrent. 8- ??? 9- profits!!
My bad. But I read the thread and thought the topic was cell phone contracts. I swear it will never happen again. From now on I will read the summary AND the article before posting on Slashdot.
Wow, I'm speechless.

"minimally violated."
Yeah, like being minimally raped.
"No return on health care."
Unless you count having a healthy population (workforce) as worth something.

"Why do we have these ideas that corporations must be treated in some discriminatory fashion?"
Corporations can not be put in prison.
Corporations can not die.

"Make your own decision."
Shit! Now I can't make a decision! Damn you untrustworthy person!
"Dont trust anybody what they say about your "privacy".
Install Firefox 3, AdBlock+, noscript, and torbutton.
You want complete anonymity, click torbutton (you have to set up tor). You're now damned hidden. No cookie leaks and stuff;.
"
I do not trust you. So I will not do this :)
... and no abuse will ever take place ...

"can sail around the North of Canada."
nope, they will sail in Canada, not around.
Read the summary again. The OWNER install the zapper to hide revenues to save on taxes.

What summary are you talking about? :)

If I would say the same about an internet connection it would be flamebait, but a cell phone, sheesh. There is alternatives, landlines and pay phones.
Moded by a sheep it seems, this is no flamebait. Ok, the title is, kinda.
