You think you're so smart with your bold "1929" correction and wikipedia quote. (1) I did not say "great" depression. I just said depression. (2) This country has had a LOT of depressions in its history, not just one. There was a depression that started in late 1921 and lasted throughout 1922.

The government did not bailout any companies, which means they died, and the economy was booming by 1923 because all the bad debt had been cleaned out. THIS is what the government should have done in 2008, rather than bailouts (corporate welfare). But no. Instead we just made the debt/derivatives bubble bigger and it will pop... probably before the end of the decade.

Well yeah it's easy when you (1) Buy someone else's ready-made browser called Mosaic, make a few changes, and rename it Explorer. (2) Have the dominant OS. Just include the new program with your $200 OS, and no way can Netscape compete because they can't afford to give it away for free.

But Microsoft doesn't have #2 this time around. In the mobile world it is Apple & Google that hold that dominant OS.

    >>>"Just rammed it through" def'n: any legislation that passes that you don't like.

Actually the Maryland Democrats do pass some good laws. Like the recent decision to allow a student to attend any public school in the state they choose. But the reason I said "ram it through" is because the Republican legislators have no power. They could stay at home and it would make absolutely no difference.

As for "majority rules" Democracy..... well ask the Executed Socrates how he feels about it. He was murdered by a simple democratic vote (they didn't like his speeches so they killed him). That's why Maryland and all the other States are REPUBLICS (rule of law & protection of basic human rights), not democracies.

That wasn't possible in the 1780s when the Constitution was originally designed, but its certainly possible now. We need representatives to write laws and hold meetings, but we no longer need them to vote on our behalf.
