    Funny. The original poster shouldn't overlook the value of a college lecture. You can listen to it while you drive to work, or in your office. It's a bit difficult to look at charts while in the car or office.

    This is pretty true of ALL the Cable "news" channels. I have a link where an MSNBC reporter brags that he has no idea what "Bilderberg group" is and has no intention of finding out. In other words, he's proudly admitting he likes to be ignorant. Not much of a reporter.

    And no I am not saying "It's okay that FOX distorts." I'm saying that the other channels are NO better and distorting the news just as often. Remember: NBC was caught editing the Trayvon 911 audio and later had to apologize for it (a mistake they claimed; it was no mistake). They also got caught editing video to make a black guy carrying a gun, look like a white guy carrying a gun (and then reported it was a whole crowd of racists wanting to kill President Obama).

    The BBC doctored the photo by overlaying it with the captain "From Syria, showing the aftermath of a massacre". That's no different then when NBC played the Trayvon 911 audio, but misled us by shortening it 20 seconds. It's called *propaganda* dumbass..... deliberately misleasding thhe public with lies and false facts. BUT that's fine... you just keep naivley watching the BBC, beleiving they are not justa s dishoenst and untruthufln as any toehr fuckign reproters.

    The BBC was just caught doctoring a ~5 year old Iraqi photo of child-aged corpses, in order to make that claim that Syrian children had *just* been killed in a massacre. So..... you can't trust BBC either. They too manufacture/distort their reporting.

    Most of the young republicans I've met lately don't watch any of the cable channels. Not ZzzzNN or DNCnbc or Faux News. They watch RT News and other online sources (so-called alternative media).

    BTW the headline sucks.
    But if you read the actual article, the reporter is making the point that Lua has never been used to write malware before. That it's an unusual choice... or so claims the Retired Colonel she is quoting.

    Probably the FCC doesn't have any control over any media except Broadcast TV. That means cable tv and newspapers are laissez faire and largely unregulated. In theory the FCC could force Rupert to give-up FOX Broadcast, but none of his other properties.

    Exactly.
    Even candybar makers like Hersheys and Mars issue refunds if the product is unsatisfactory (just return the unused portion). I don't expect theaters to issue refunds, but why can't Hollywood do the same if I return a crap DVD? Or issue a store credit? It's a sad state of affairs when low-end candymakers offer better customer service/satisfaction than the rich guys who produce movies.

    I thought about doing that, but then I realized I'm cutting-out all the important people who ALSO helped make the music: The audio engineer, the extra instrument players, and additional backing vocals. The only way those people get paid is to buy the CD or MP3

    They do? I've found plenty. (Mostly nudity but that's still considered "porn" in some persons twisted reality.)

    And this Ari guy is the type who believes reality can be denied just by pretending it doesn't exist. "Comcast lost almost 10 million subscribers last year, and 25 million over the last five years." - "No they didn't." I think they call it cognitive dissonance; an unwillingness to accept reality because it doesn't fit your belief system.

    But I'm certainly not going to pay Comcast or any other cable company $70/month for 70 channels that rarely have anything I want to watch. (Even Syfy is now filled with reality junk... having canceled their last sci-fi show.)

    I might be willing to pay for a la carte. Say $8 for any 20 channels of my choice. Somewhat similar to how Sirius XM radio works ($8 for 40 channels).

    VirginMobile had one for $15, with unlimited texting. (Calls and data were limited to about 500 minutes and 200MB.) Then they got rid of it. I've not seen anybody else offer this deal so far. It was a real bargain for those who do nothing but text all day long.

    I think he meant that books are a collaborative effort between author & editor. Oftentimes authors will put whatever comes to mind, and end-up with a 1000-page tome. It is the job of the editor to shorten that word-barf into something manageable. AND most authors appeciate the effort of the editor, as oftentimes the work is improved via the shortening/editing.

    Yes free markets DO encourage quality control because the customers (that's us) will never again deal with a company that does Not have quality control. Such as Sears whom I will never deal with again. Or Comcast. Or e-Machines (though I've heard they've improved since gateway bought them).

    Sometimes I wonder if Users have their brains turned-off. Everybody knows you can't just "search kindle" and "replace all" with nook, because then you replace words that never should have been replaced (as shown). You're supposed to verify each change one at a time.

    Google Worked okay for me, and provided a listing from cheapest to highest price. That's how I discovered magazinepricesearch.com which saved me a lot of money. Otherwise I'd still be paying double what I should.

    The statistics I've seen show guns prevent crime & murders, because the thief runs-away. In other words even though guns sometimes causes accidental deaths (just like cars, trains, planes) they are more useful to have than to not have (just like cars, trains, planes).

    As for the "right" to own guns, it comes from nature. Nature gave us our bodies and just as we have a right to get abortions (because it's our body), or smoke cigarettes (because it's our body), we also have a right to defend ourselves from rape or death (because it's our body).

    I stole a candybar from Walmart by putting it in the babyseat spot, and then forgetting it was there. Ooops.

    The checkout girl didn't notice of course, and neither did I until I was at my car and unpacking stuff. I left the bar where it was & shoved the cart through the door, and then quickly drove off.

    Yes because snopes is a reliable source of information (not). Why it's just as reliable as wikipedia (not... it's less reliable). Snopes is the answer to everything because the author is all-knowing and flawless, and there's never any reason to doubt the word of that dude. (I'm being sarcastic.)

    My CFLs burn-out every 6 months and rarely last longer than the "normal" bulbs. Of course I know why: The CFLs used in normal "right side up" lights will last long, but in ceiling lights, which are positioned upside down, the heat becomes trapped in the enclosure & kills the electronics (the caps swell and leak). I suspect the same would happen with LED bulbs. These modern designs aren't good for enclosed or upside-down fixtures... the heat kills them.

    If I wasn't at work I would give you links, but youtube is blocked. I'm sure you can find the relevant anti-CFL stuff on youtube & google. It isn't hard. Try "flaws with CFL" or "burning CFL"

    They suck. If the only think wrong with a CFL bulb was the "clamshell" packaging, I'd actually be happy. I saw on youtube last night of a bulb covering a bathroom with smoke/soot as it burned-out (normal operation according to the manufacturer). It cost the family thousands of dollars because they wanted to save a few pennies.

    If it was an isolated incident, I wouldn't care, but there are dozens of videos like that. I suspect if some student or professor with spare time performed a study, they'd find CFLs actually cost MORE money (and energy) overall than using the old Edison bulb (incandescent bulb). Similar to how ACEEE.org performed a study and found a grid-powered EV actually emits more pollution/greenhouse gases than a 50 or higher MPG gasoline or diesel car.

    Except when they don't. The Canadian companies were caught copying songs over onto "greatest hits" CDs or collections, and not paying the artists. They owed almost a billion in unpaid royalties.

    Here in America the companies owe 10s of millions in unpaid royalties. I think artists/actors actually get screwed with royalty/residual contracts. They'd be better-off to get paid a flat hourly wage like other producers of copyrighted works. Like engineers and programmers.
