    As far as I can see both you and he have valid points. The government does serve in a protective capacity for the poor, and the government does abuse its powers, sometimes leading to wars in the case of the US. The correct answer of course is a middle ground, controlling the government and restraining the abuses while encouraging the equalising and protective ability for the poor. Note that means the poor, not the unionised public sector, which has proven itself very capable of holding entire countries to ransom over a paycheque.

    This is quite a compicated feat and needs to be done from within the system, which is why it's popular with neither adrenaline-addicted extreme, but it remains the right course of action.

    Surely you mean Hong Kong? Or Manila? The Lion City treads a very fine line at the best of times lah, if they insist on acting like a tinpot dictatorship they will most assuredly be treated as such.

    The world needs Singapore a lot less than Singapore needs the world.

    You don't need a full piece of DNA, just lots of small pieces you can combine into a full one. While I appreciate that posting on /. gives you the ability to second guess any amount of considered research and scientific understanding, from time to time reality does kick in.

    Revenue is far less important than profits in these purchases, Tumblr as you said had $13 million in revenue but actually made a loss of ~ $12 million, making it an even worse purchase. What are Hulu's profit margins?

    You could supply the total electricity that humanity uses by covering a single digit percentage of the Sahara desert with solar panels. For the hard of thinking, I'm not saying that this is the plan, just that we have a huge abundance of energy. We also have a huge abundance of food. We have in fact a huge abundance of everything except fossil fuels which were never a good idea and which are all easily replaceable, so no, the sky is not falling and anyone sincerely wishing death upon large numbers of people for ANY reason needs to be removed from circulation for their own good.
