The Senate can not be voted out they are appointed.
As for MP's they get elected promising their constituents to vote a certain way they they change sides after they get elected. An MP can help pass lots of bills in 4 years. Not being elected in the next term does not undo what they did while elected. And a nice cushy private sector job to start when they don't get elected and a government pension for their time spent not representing their constituents.

The fact that some transitional fossils are not preserved does not disprove evolution.
It's like saying "The fact that no one has seen or talked to God does not disprove the existence of God."
So, science actually predicts that for many evolutionary changes there will be gaps in the record. And religion preaches faith to account for lack of proof in the existence of God and even predicts that people won't believe in the existence of God.

The spill you are referring to was 47 kilo's not liters. There was also a 800 liter spill and a 7,000 liter a day spill that lasted over a month that was pumped into the Ottawa river. They need a new plant and since they take a while to build sooner is better than latter. If the plant gets shut down for good how many years would it take to start producing isotopes again? As for perspective why shouldn't people drive 50 year old cars that pollute like a bastard and leak oil once in a while?

Now when you refer to middle class you mean pencil pushers and the like. My knees, back and shoulders hurt enough that most nights I can't sleep without pain killers. I used to make $10,000 per month and had 8 employees before the pencil pushers screwed everyone over and the housing market went to shit. Now I have to compete with Mexican workers and I work with my dad and brother because we can't afford to hire anyone. Last month I made $2500 (before tax) for over 200 hr of work. And since I live in a small town I can't even afford to drive to the nearest city to work and I can't sell my house for enough to pay off the mortgage (I built a 978 ft square bungalow in 2006 so I don't live in some ridiculous mansion). And I'm not fat either I weigh 135 lb right now I've lost 25 lb since the beginning of 2007.
