Um. Yeah. The Jew lobby? What about the middle-class white male Christian lobby, or any of countless other groups? There are many influential groups. Why would you single out this one group? I agree that per capita Jews probably have more influence in the U.S. than non Jews, but they also work to get themselves educated so they can make such a difference. This sort of anti-semitism goes back to old west towns, where the mayors were often Jewish. Why? Because nobody else knew how to read. Jews elsewhere in history were targeted, because a lot of people owed them money. Why? Because the Christians had laws against collecting interest on a loan. Ok, my point: Jews are people. You're a person. You both have a fundamental right to exist, to progress, and to work to make a difference. Get along. Otherwise, you'll get what you deserve: living in your own bitterness.
So if we fix the Florida elections, then everything's fine. Ok.
That's nonsense. This could have gone down to any, even the smallest, of the 50 states. Every state has vote counting problems. It seems strange that we're only applying fire protection to the one place that's already burned down.
But if they reported it that way, it wouldn't be newsworthy, would it? The media are not there to report the facts, they're there to attract readers so they can keep making money.
Well, gee whiz, we've had that for a long time. Just download the Slashdot source code, find the part that does those nifty polls, and boom! Instant electronic voting.

If PI has the property they are theorizing, to find a number n digits long in PI, you'll likely look through about 10^n digits of PI. So, storing its location in PI should take about as many digits as the message you are trying to compress.
Back before they invented the wheel, the platters were square, and man those were noisy. Not to mention slow. Of course, the iron age was another great milestone in hard drive technology.
I've been using a PVR for years now. What are these things they call ads? I have no idea what an ad is, and I have no interest in finding out. I have no more comments.
for a similar study on the effects of reading Slashdot 10 hours a day.
If someone ends up 4 years behind because they spent that much of their life playing Quake, wouldn't you count that as damage?

"What's the meaning of life?"
"forty-one, no wait, fortAAAAAaAAAaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!"
Yeah, like get Quake 3 running on this baby. You'll be the talk of the LAN party.
I wonder if "BigWhiteHacks.org" is still available...
Of course, if someone named "Debian Distro" gets elected president, we might need to do a recount.

As of 4:11 in Hawaii, helios was up to 96,500 feet!
Seems like with the thing being so slow, it would be spotted by somebody.
or, if you want it faster. Here's what I do:
1) Open my front door
2) Walk outside
It's about time the patent office had a DOS attack.
Telephones should be too. After all, how do we know someone isn't playing a CD in the background?
Maybe we can find a patent on syncing somewhere...
if the clones will all have Italian accents.

Or how about, you walk into Wendy's one day, and you notice the only advertisements on the walls are for Burger King. Kinda strange...
Someday, they might nickname this catastrophe, " Y2K-2! "
