Good point about the intermingling thing. I am a comparative rarity ethnically - 100% 2nd-generation Finnish-American. All 4 grandparents were immigrants from Suomi. Finnish food ranges from the sublime to the disgusting.
Dude, what Americans eat as "Mexican" or "Chinese" of even in many cases "Italian" would NOT be recognized in their supposed countries of origin. A classic example - ask an Italian for "pepperoni" and you will be handed a sweet green pepper. There isn't even a similar Italian sausage under another name. What we in the US call pepperoni most closely resembles some German sausage varieties.
Umm, no. The descendants of the Spanish conquistadors are the upper class in today's Mexico. The illegal immigrants are almost entirely "indios," descendants of the original human population of the region. I liked the way your racism popped up when you mentioned these supposed descendants of the Spanish annoying "white people." So even southern Europeans aren't "white" enough for you, is that it?
Motion sensor needed to be more sensitive. Or you needed to get a nice backlit keyboard. I used to work in a place that had such lighting controls, but only in the rest rooms. On occasion while doing Number 2, I would be plunged into darkness. Had to wave my arm before starting on the cleanup phase.
But in the 1950's, all those preggo teens either had a shotgun wedding, or were shipped off to a discrete maternity hospital in another town. Nobody ever TALKED about sex, they just DID it. And then pretended they didn't.
One of the fascinating aspects of human "progress" is how each "improvement" causes us to lose some degree of innate ability. Back before the invention of all those mechanical devices, humans were much physically stronger on average. One thing that I found particularly interesting is that literacy severely damaged our memory capacity. In non-literate societies, individuals would often memorize entire epic poems. Imagine knowing, for example, the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, and being able to recite it word for word. But when we could just open a book and read it, we got "lazy" and our memory capacity shrank. Everything is a trade-off.
Agreed GPS-aided navigation is a useful tool. But it does not require "skills" to use. All you are doing is following instructions. A skill would be the ability to read a map and plot a course. So if your GPS breaks down, you can still find your way home.
No, you suk. At maps. Maps themselves are neutral items. I like maps, in large part because I learned how to use them. Back in the days before personal computers and GPS (I'm an Old Fart), a friend who lived in a distant town would tell me their address, I would look it up on a map, figure our how to get there, and go. And arrive with no problems. Even if I had never been anywhere near that location before. Lots and lots of people used to be able to do this. Most people, in fact. And now most people probably can't.
And you live in an equally strange world. Here in 2011, nearly 10 full years after 9/11, bin Laden has become largely irrelevant to terrorism. The original Al Qaeda has evaporated, replaced by ad hoc groups in various locations. But those groups have also been rendered irrelevant by the spontaneous "Arab spring" that has swept through so many countries. There may be isolated individuals who will try to "avenge" bin Laden in some way. But his killing will not inspire any mass terrorist reinvigoration.
The bailout was under BUSH. It was BUSH who said Wall Street had to be bailed out or everything would collapse. Congress panicked and voted for Bush's bailout because stock prices were going down faster than the lead MILF in a porn video. Obama added to the deficit with his stimulus bill, which was largely hijacked by special interests, "thanks" to Congress. And it did help the economy get stumbling forward again, though not as much as it could have.
Didn't one of RIM's co-CEO's make a big deal recently about the PlayBook being able to run Android apps? That sure doesn't sound like staying "clear of Android" to me. I agree that it is a very bad strategic move for RIM.
Hmm, what's the BlackBerry equivalent of "fandroid"? Although narcc sounds more like a paid "corporate spokesperson" this time. Reality check time. Seems most of the 39 million new BBM users are located outside the US. Yup, RIM is really getting youth buzz in South Africa and Indonesia! It's not going to help.
I have heard that bullshit explanation before. It just does not hold water. My prediction: RIM will cease to exist as an independent company before 2015.
It'll screw up the easiest way to sidestep their would-be "paywall."

In France, McDonalds has wine on the menu.

Just like knowledgeable laymen with meth "habits" have fixed American industry's productivity problems.

Seems to me that you could put these little "cracker-sats" into orbit with a heavy-duty slingshot. Talk about a green revolution!

Ballmer was overheard screaming, "Mail the damn users an update CD or something!"
Except for Apple.
So BlackBerries are popular with teens mainly for cheap texting? I don't see that as particularly good news for RIM's future or bottom line.
He's clearly not a "chubby chaser."
I propose we make some sort of action to make RIM Jobs safe!
A nice soapy enema beforehand, that should do it.

Jeez, that must be right up there with Australian polka bands and Zimbabwean klezmer!
The fact that Blackberries can hold a charge through an entire day of talking surely counts for something?
Guess you don't have kids. Teens don't talk on phones, they text.
I have heard that bullshit explanation before. It just does not hold water.

Actually typewriters are more Tragic Hipster or Steampunk IMHO.
But there's a reason the genre is called STEAMpunk. So I would only consider a steam-operated typewriter to be a valid SP machine.
