There was a fucking butt plug holding in the immortality of heaven. It should of been shaped like baby Jesus. That was the explanation of 120 hours of storytelling, sorry if I think that is a cop out. Especially since the room they filmed it in looked like the set of the 1960's version of the Journey to the Center of the Earth.

At least we knew what a fucking replicant was. That is good storytelling, explanation to go along with the exploration of the human condition. Wrapping up everything with a Christian allegory is pandering for DVD sales to people who worship feel good ignorance over cold hard substance.

You seem to neglect that there is a rather vocal portion of the TV viewing demographic that is in love with the idea of television, movies and music reinforcing their world view of ignorance over substance. Listen to popular songs and see how many of them talk about spirituality. If there was a scientific explanation of what was happening on the island there would be riots in the streets with the religious nutters acting like you defiled the story of Christ and they would be right. The narrative was a Christian allegory, a morality play for a modern time and as much as I was disgusted with the way they treated the series as a pulpit for their views I'm more concerned at how they treated science as something not even worth explaining because, " We all die in the end."

Human drama is cheap as well as readily available on a reality show all the while being far more engaging than 70% of the filler they used for LOST, if I wanted to watch everyone die slowly I will watch a war movie. Hell, I can go down to my local pub and get human drama by buying the right girl a few drinks and ask her how her day was. The point of LOST was that it was trying to be more than human drama and it failed.

You clearly don't understand television the prevalence of TV mediocrity and how that effects syndication and DVD sales value. Mediocre sells because people can relate to mediocre. I'm assuming that includes you ?

It was patently religious, it was pandering to the masses who will be buying the DVDs. The finale might as well of come from Kirk Cameron or one of the lesser Baldwins. There is no money in running a show like LOST which refused to disclose almost any definitive answers for 6 seasons if its last message is secular so they wrapped it their last story arc like it was some new agey mystical coda that unifies all religions and all your friends together.

Sorry, I'm an Atheist and the ending for me was like watching the crew of the enterprise meeting Santa Claus at the North Pole. The producers and writers promised rational explanations for everything that happened on the Island, but I guess that means everything that happened off the Island could indulge in as much mystical mumbo jumbo as they wanted.

I get the feeling that the 5th season's science heavy direction was losing viewers or something because after spending last night at a LOST party and listening to people talk it is obvious that the lowest common denominator explanation for any phenomenon was Religion and Aliens. Out of a group of about 30 people maybe 2 were positing scientific explanations for things.

Economics today is the equivalent of a piece of multimedia art in the 1980's with various disparate materials glued together in some semblance of a whole. What no one wants to admit or even cares to talk about is that Economics still has highly limited long term predicative powers. The reason quantitative finance makes all its money on these 11 second extortive trades is because long term is hard and weary work.

Maoism went down the road of implementing what was set out by Lenin mostly but after losing millions in famine began to look for a "3rd way". Maoism as an economic/political system in the 1960's started turning itself into a small ruling elite dictating monetary, fiscal and business policy allowing completely unfettered access to the masses by any corporation willing to pay bribes, fees and allow 51% Chinese control of any assets. This has allowed a prosperous group of super rich ex-government and military men to make millions of dollars off the work off the masses, who are treated as vassals when companies open new factories, sending them along with the machines. It has nothing to do with communism in the sense of Marxist-Leninism or even Trotskyist communism. Maybe you should read something about the world's second most popular political and economic system that is not written to demonize, trivialize or over simplify the subject. I suggest CFR or FP.

He said he had never been hit on by a girl after he left college, well that is until he started parking that beast in the Walmart parking lot on a weekend, women on different occasions would actually come up to him in the store and start randomly starting conversations about politics assuming he was a Republican or something.

When I go back to visit my Mom and drive her old Porsche around town I notice I get a lot more attention as well. Really, this is not that bad way of selecting a mate when you think about it. Its not that they are attracted to men with a guitar, Humvee or Porsche per se, they are attracted to the idea of being seen as a woman with a man who has those things. What gets women going is not the material items themselves but how those items are perceived by others, esp other women in relationships I've noticed.

What, you did not know that is why cops arrest so many people? The sweet sweet overtime, which can double their salaries has made police unions actually protest when they makes plans to hire more cops and reduce overtime.

It is a growing concern that the more time a cop spends testifying per week the more likely he will get overtime, which is a major problem, and not just for budget reasons.
